Filler words can get in the way of your idea/story in your podcast and usually happen when searching for words as we speak, but can be perceived as lack of confidence, not being prepared, or not having a grasp on the subject. Here are 10 common filler words I often edit: 🧵1/14

Recording them on separate tracks gives more editing options and even better sound. Bleed is the biggest challenge

Headsets distort easily, sound thinner, and pick up too much breath. a.co/d/ivkJjRV

The only thing on my Christmas list: Lutron dimmers and switches. Slowly replacing all non-Lutrons around the house

A good story trumps a big name guest. Having someone with a big name adds credibility to your show, but if you can't bring good stories out of them, then it won't keep people coming back. If you're excited about the guest, ask well-informed questions with genuine intentions.

@jasonsheesley File management is something we need to talk about more in all business that involves collaborating on media creation and publishing! It’s not sexy at all and seems unnecessary, but it can be painfully time consuming when there’s no established plan and process.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people need help understanding basic, human-readable file-naming conventions.

Well, this solves a problem quite nicely. I was expecting an anniversary color change, but the built-in preamp is a great idea.

@davidhooper @DannyBrownCA And musicians and others don’t have the option to insert ads into their content like podcasts do. There are so many incongruencies between music and podcasts as media and how we consume them. It’s not feasible to ask apps to shoehorn compensation the same way for both.

@davidhooper @DannyBrownCA But pricing a podcast “chatcast” audio file the same as a music audio file is not fair at all to pro musicians who spend weeks or months crafting a 3-minute song with 50 tracks of instruments played by multiple musicians. Same with a fiction podcast with actors and sound design.

@DannyBrownCA Is it feasible to compensate podcasters per download? Absolutely! But the corporations that run the apps won’t do that because it’s more profitable to exploit creators.

@DannyBrownCA Melody and lyrics in music are copywrited and licensed and publishing is tracked. They are both audio files that listeners find in the same app, and share similar production methods. But they are not the same type of digital product. Should podcasts be monetized like ebooks? No.
