@klhicks912 Well, as far back as Windows 95, I shut off Grammar/Spell checkers bc of how much they didn't know &/or colorfully flagged as wrong (e.g. with lyric prose, poetry, con-lang, experimental prose, & more). I can't trust them or AI to do/know more than what their programming has.

How do you feel about using AI as a writer? (By this I mean using it to edit, fact check, and provide feedback)

@KeruboSk 🙋‍♀️ Mostly my own work, but also a snowscape by a local artist, 3 works by my sister (2 of them ceramics--she was better w/clay than I ever was!), & a marina painting by my MIL (sadly, she passed before I could meet her).

@QuestionAbyss Not often. A lot of ppl who know me in RL notice & comment that I auto-switch to the same vocal "tranquilizer" I use with frantic/nervous/upset animals. 🤷‍♀️

Do you make sure to remove anyone who, even in the slightest, makes you feel you have to walk on eggshells around them?

@QuestionAbyss IDK for certain, mainly bc some potentials I let go of or pushed away entangled personal peace with physical issues. The balance sheet rarely *balanced*.

How much potential have you likely "pushed away" over the years in favor of your personal peace?

@QuestionAbyss IDK about cautious, but I've become pretty good at vanishing from entanglements that are low/non-value.

Are you cautious about keeping yourself out of low-value social entanglements?

@QuestionAbyss By my teens *if* I became aware of their projections, but I think it was less about tiring of it & more about that double-life already established.

@QuestionAbyss Overtly or covertly, I've been myself all my life. LOL my parents often repeated things like how I traded my Barbies for Breyer 🐎, took things apart to see how they worked (esp. some dad had to help me reassemble), or decorated our house exteriors w/ mud "paint" I made. 🤷‍♀️😁

@QuestionAbyss By early grade school, I'd figured out living a double life, pursuing what I liked/interested me w/out worrying or angering ppl (e.g. parents). But I had more freedom than most kids. I read what I liked, explored woods/streams/etc. alone, collected rocks/feathers/bugs, & so on.

@QuestionAbyss Had to look up the term. Yep, I experience it! Tasks done once & for all fall to (below!) the bottom of my priority list. Far ahead of them are urgent tasks, less immediate ones, cyclical or incremental tasks, & tasks done good enough for *now* but will need revisiting later.

@QuestionAbyss 1st question: yep. Happy for some editing time on my writing; not so thrilled re: phase 2 of dental work. 2nd question: not quite uncharted. Spotting a 1977 diary entry maybe indicating how my rat experiment reservations started, I want to see if I noted more later.

@BretVDB Whether anyone likes/dislikes such entries, I wonder if ppl who keep diaries ever consider that *private* thoughts/preferences/tantrums/struggles/etc. might someday be read by others. Perhaps a good reason to require one's diaries/journals be burned upon death.

Bret van den Brink
Bret van den Brink@BretVDB·
Virginia Woolf’s diary entries on James Joyce’s Ulysses: “An illiterate, underbred book it seems to me; the book of a self taught working man, and we all know how distressing they are, how egotistic, insistent, raw, striking, and ultimately nauseating. … I finished ‘Ulysses’ and think it is a misfire. Genius it has, I think; but of the inferior water. The book is diffuse. It is brackish. It is pretentious. It is underbred, not only in the obvious sense, but in the literary sense. A first-rate writer, I mean, respects writing too much to be tricky; startling; doing stunts.”

@graestonewriter I liked them all. Interesting, too, was one commonality: omission & misdirection rather than blatant lying.

@graestonewriter #LineByLineTime Since so many of my characters are psychic, it's hard for them to lie directly. But that doesn't mean they can't lie by omission or misdirection. In this scene, Gloria isn't comfortable letting her friends know what D'nay is.

@graestonewriter His 200 y.o. age showed up in Suntosun Circus, but in this WIP, it's only been hinted in an earlier scene. Perhaps it needs to be more blatant earlier?

@graestonewriter P.S. Don't close quotation after the 1st paragraph of Retta's 2-paragraph dialog. The close quotation mark goes after the ending of that quotation & before the break into narrative.
