😡 Prepare to be pissed. 😡 There are days when heartbreaking doesn’t even begin to cover it. Days when the only word that fits is infuriating… and that’s still an understatement. ⏳ DEADLINE DATE: 4/13/2026 Paris is ten years old. Ten years. That is a decade of loyalty, a decade of sitting, staying, and laying down on command, and a decade of being a "loving, calm, playful, and happy" member of a family that had her since she was a tiny puppy. But apparently, ten years of devotion has an expiration date. Paris was dropped off at the shelter as an owner surrender on April 4th. Her owners told the staff they’ve had her since she was a puppy. They told the staff she’s potty trained, well-behaved, and great with people. They also admitted they know she has Valley Fever and multiple masses on her body. They even admitted that a veterinarian gave them options for treatment. And instead of helping the dog who gave them her entire life, they chose to leave her in a loud kennel at an age when she should be napping on a familiar rug. I’m just gonna say exactly what’s on my mind - I don’t care what the “reason” was. You don't leave a 10 year old senior with medical needs at a shelter to face a deadline alone. This dog has been done an incredible disservice. If they couldn't or wouldn't treat her, perhaps she would have been better off being humanely euthanized in their arms - surrounded by the only love she’s ever known - rather than being discarded and left to wonder why her people never came back? Now, her life depends on a miracle. Paris has multiple masses along her stomach, some of which are raw and bleeding. She has a head tilt, inflamed paws, and dental disease. Despite being in pain and clearly confused, she’s still a sweet, mellow girl. She allowed the shelter staff to handle her, vaccinate her, and lead her to a kennel without a single ounce of resistance. She is still trying to be a good girl, even though the people she was good to…. are gone. Paris is NOT available for direct adoption. Because of her medical needs, she can only leave with a New Hope rescue partner. She needs a committed foster in ARIZONA. She needs a place to rest and a rescue that can provide the diagnostics and surgery she needs to find out if these masses are treatable.
