Just published: musculoskeletal pain is more prevalent in rural compared to urban populations worldwide. Overall, musculoskeletal pain, and shoulder and hip pain were statistically significantly higher as per our meta-analysis. doi.org/10.1111/ajr.13…

As a consumer-focused organisation, @MSKAust applauds all involved in this study as it not only addresses the highly prevalent problem of musculoskeletal pain, but it also works to address the major issue re: equity of access for people in rural and regional Australia.

Some could not afford physio, some could not access it because of distance, and many ended up taking only medications. Telehealth works great to support in-person treatments.

I’d love to see a comparison to typical in-person PT. My hypothesis would be similar outcomes but less visits via telehealth.
