@nprscottsimon My father at 103 has clear memories of his service in the Navy at Londonderry, Northern Ireland, where they outfitted ships with radar equipment. He would be a good person to interview!

@ajavestro After some difficult times in the earlier years, Fraser and I learned to work together extremely closely. I loved supporting our wonderful group members like yourself. Alyssa photo: Dancing in the Golden Hall after the Nobel banquet. The experience of a lifetime in Stockholm!

You all played a role in the path I've forged & lead today. Not just Fraser yet bc of him. Dare I forget @meschott who devotedly enabled Fraser's gift over the yrs. Our champion as well. So while I still grasp for words, I know I'm also thankful to you, Peggy, for everything ❤️💐

For now, there'll be no dancing into the new year. My heart has been heavy, silent, broken since learning of @sirfrasersays passing yesterday. A yr ago, we embraced & shared one last heartfelt reunion, not knowing it'd be our last. I love you, Fraser. Thank you, for everything ❤️

Today I celebrated Fraser in a small way by dining at an Australian cafe near his NU-Chicago office and ordering poached pears (on pancakes), one of the special desserts he liked making for group gatherings at his Evanston home. And I echo the words, Thanks Fraser for everything!

@ChemistryViews @ChemEurope This was Fraser's favorite photo, taken by Jim Prisching on October 5, 2016 near the Research Palace (his word for the lab) following Northwestern's press conference that morning celebrating the Nobel. He selected the tie as representing the chemistry of the mechanical bond.

I will miss Fraser a great deal. Today marks 17 years since I became his personal assistant, and what a run it has been! We worked hard and also loved to joke around a wee bit. Best job I could ever have hoped for.

What a terrible loss. I had the good fortune of meeting him during my postdoc at UC-Berkeley. At Birmingham then, at dinner he lambasted British higher ed – ALWAYS opinionated, and usually correct. A giant of supramolecular and novel aromatic chemistry – may he rest in peace.

Colleagues, Students, Postdocs, Collaborators and Friends of Sir Fraser Stoddart @sirfrasersays: I am writing with the sad news that Fraser passed away suddenly on 31 Dec (Australia time) while on holiday with family. No details yet on any services.

Safety first! 🧪 As we learn long-term data on chemicals like DCM, updating safety protocols is essential. Faculty members Bryan Hunter and Carine Nemr discuss how #NUChemistry labs are exploring alternatives for 'irreplaceable' chemicals. @whoisBMH bit.ly/3OJaD9g

@MichelleFrancl @Nature A brilliant review - thank you for writing it. And happy Physics Nobel Day. Curie's first visit to the US (on which I gave an ACS talk) included stops here in Evanston and Chicago.
