For everyone coming to @EFDevcon in Buenos Aires: here’s a local guide from someone who lives here🫶 I’ve been living here for the past 1.5 years and I'm so happy to share some places & tips. I’m also beyond excited to finally meet crypto folks in person (not just on CT). So, let's dive in! You can pretty much pay by card everywhere now. I rarely carry cash. However, lots of restaurants and shops will give you around 10% off if you pay in cash. The vibe here is very different now. I wasn’t here during the crazy hyperinflation or “dollar privilege” times. Honestly, living here now feels almost as expensive as in Canada, the US, or EU (sorry, but it’s true). One thing that’s definitely better here is the food. Nothing beats it anywhere else I’ve lived. 🏡Where to Stay - Palermo (Soho, Hollywood, Chico). All of them are great areas to stay. - Recoleta (near the parks). A lovely area too. - Belgrano. Super green and calm. - Villa Urquiza (next to Belgrano R) and Chacarita (next to Palermo). Two underrated neighborhoods worth considering as well. ☕️Coffee. Great coffee is easy to find. Some favorite coffee spots include: - The Shelter Coffee Loreto - Vive Café - Surry Hills | Brunch Palermo - CUADRA - BLANCA® (offers oat milk) - Chicama (also offers oat milk) 🥩Some of my favorite parrillas (steakhouses) that aren’t overhyped but are sooo good include: - Minga Parrilla - La Condesa Grill & Pasta - Tierno Parrilla - Hierro Parrilla Palermo - Parrilla SecreTiTo (a very local spot) 🤤Other Places to Try: - Quotidiano Bar de Pastas (really delicious pasta) - Crêpas (crepes with various fillings) - Daniel Bakery (the best croissants) - Palacio Duhau (the best and most gorgeous hotel breakfast) - Perú Deli (a very local Peruvian spot) 🍜Chinatown & Asian Food: - Belgrano’s Chinatown (and other Asian eateries in BA) are must-try stops for food lovers. Some favorites include: - Feng Wei (super local, not touristy; just be careful not to confuse it with the spot next door) - Norimōto - Ma La Tang (Asian soup where you choose your ingredients by weight) - Mirutaki (the best ramen) 🍨Ice Cream Ice cream is like a religion here. People eat it day or night, rain or shine, even in winter. My favorite combo is dulce de leche + limón pera + coco dulce de leche Here are my favorite ice cream spots: - Finde Heladería - Cremolatti - Lucciano 🧘‍♀️If you need a break from talks and parties, try these activities: - El Rosedal Garden: beautiful park where you can rent rollerblades. - Pilates classes: try studios like Pilates Lab, Prana House, or The Pilates Studio. - Parque Norte: big park with tennis courts, padel courts, swimming pools, and parrilla grills (basically everything in one place). - Sports: everyone plays padel and tennis 🎾 (just google a padel/tennis club near you). For tennis lessons, feel free to dm me and I’ll share my English speaking coach’s contact. - Picnic: grab a blanket and have a picnic at Bosques de Palermo. Hope this helps you enjoy BA!
