@idiotpeach Bot farms, every now and again on views and when Google get around to it, you will see those views vanish. If you remember a few years ago, PewDiPie lost several million from the purge.

Has anyone ever dealt with view botting on YouTube? My videos consistently get insane amounts of 0:01 second views from India specifically for the last year. It’s murdered my reach in any YouTube algorithm with the short watch time.

I know the 'Proposed Law' very well. Since 2007 the age to purchase cigarettes has been 18+, this means that anyone born after 2007, shouldn't really be smoking, as they will never have been able to buy them until they turned 18. This actually raises issues under 'Child Protection Laws', as a child having cigarettes bought them, would amount to child abuse, as you're not only buying a poison, but also allowing a poison to be consumed. If you was born on or after the 1st of January 2009, you are not taking anything away from them, as it's been illegal to purchase for under 18 for 19 years, it's actually a criminal offence and if caught, can be both a fine and imprisoned. You're just trying to find any plausible argument, to justify the fact you think it's ok to poison our children!

You misunderstand the new law. It creates a permanent, escalating age restriction specifically to prevent anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 from ever legally purchasing tobacco products, even as adults. That means at a certain point in time, a 39 year old will be able to buy tobacco but a 38 year old won’t. In that scenario, the 38 year old will just ask the 39 year old to purchase the cigarettes or perhaps get them from abroad. This is why the law is unworkable.

Now that facial recognition will be rolled out UK wide, in another move to create a draconian state Is now the time for calls to demand the banning of the Burka??

I don’t smoke. Never have. I have no skin in the game. But this really is draconian. It should not be within the power of the government to interfere with the personal choices of citizens like this.

@A1an_M I'm a smoker, was abused in to smoking through psychical and mental abuse as a child by my parents, I've tried to quit and find it very hard, especially as I'm high functioning and it calms stress. It needs banning, I just wished they would just go for it and blanket ban.

I grew up in a house where both of my parents smoked, in an era where people smoked, everywhere, and I also had asthma. Unsurprisingly, I've never smoked & don't like being around smokers. Smoking is, overall, bad for your health and the health of those around you. Pubs and restaurants and hotels became much more pleasant places to be after the smoking ban was brought in. For non-smokers at least. Having said all of that, I'm pretty uncomfortable about seeing government bringing in bans like this. Younger generations have, by and large, made their own decisions about smoking (and drinking) and, vaping aside, smoking was dying out pretty naturally, so a statutory ban seems unnecessary. It might even be counterproductive and make young people want to smoke even more. And the big concern I have is if we set a precedent with smoking, what will the next thing be that the Big State wants to ban? It might be something that's a lot more valuable to us than smoking.

I heard a crazy story about the Covid jabs yesterday. A friend of mine knows a teacher that lost his job for not getting jabbed. When he was eventually allowed back (cause, ya know, “science”) he spoke to a number of other teachers who didn’t get the jabs either but faked it to keep their jobs. The crazy part is that group of “unvaxxed” teachers were the only ones not getting sick. In fear of being found out - they pretended to be sick like everyone else so no one would get suspicious. 🤣🙄🙄

All these platforms need to do, is restrict 'Public Viewing', they can't do much in terms of the 'Media Engine' as that would be a requirement of @amazon to add authentication to views, but removing things such as 'Public WS', will see a drop in view bots, stopping embed views will drop view botting and then implementing proper authenticated layer, will stop bots 100%.

It's 100% workable, it's why it's a LAW. And this is where you are all a bunch of idiots. Smoking was banned for under 18's in 2007, anyone born after 2007 had no legal right to buy, and so shouldn't be smoking at all. The fact that many of you are stupid to this fact, is why many of you are actually thick and stupid! Full blanket ban from 2009, means NO ONE UNDER 18 SHOULD BE SMOKING. And if you want to go down the path of law, well those all helping under 18's smoke right now, are actually breaking 'Child Protection Laws', where children are supposed to be protected from people. So yes you're all stupid!

Reading through your comments, I only have one thing to say, cigarettes are as harmful as driving a car, they both produce toxins that are carcinogenic and cause cancer, and both are classed as poisonous. So to advocate for a person to smoke, who legally can't, well that's just you being stupid.

In 2049, if you buy a pack of cigarettes for a 40 year old born in 2009, because it's illegal supply, you're then a criminal? How stupid this all is. A forty year old should be free to smoke all they like it's their problem.

@bloomjpg Nothing to do with Pokimane, the hosting provider was contacted to inform them of the abuse of a service on their platform, for which they responded by removing it. Give it a couple of days, and it will be back on a new host.

Pokimane says she contacted her lawyer after a viewbot site used her likeness and it was taken down the next day 😳 "I emailed my lawyer... Apparently that website doesn't exist anymore."
