People tried making fun of it when grunge hit but it was able to survive. When you look back though you realize from 1980-1992 it went from more of a niche kind of music for a specific fan base in 80, 81, and 82 to exploding to the general public in 83 and 84. By 87, 88, and 89 it was the biggest thing just behind pop music. It started to slow a little in 90 but it was still extremely popular along with pop and rap. In 91 it took a hit with the grunge and alternative bands blowing up midway through 91 but even so. Skid Row became the first metal band to debut at number one with Slave June 11th. Van Halen followed a week later June 17th debuting at number one with F.U.C.K. Metallica then debuted at number one August 12th with the black album. Guns n Roses debuted at number one and two with the Use Your Illusion albums September 17th. Motley Crue’s Decade Of Decadence was released in September of 91 and peaked at number two. It wasn’t until 92 when it really ended yet still. Def Leppard’s Adrenalize dropped March 31st and week later it hit number one and stayed there for five weeks going triple platinum. Bon Jovi’s Keep The Faith debuted at number five November 3rd and went double platinum. Plus bands like Firehouse and Warrant had Gold records in 92. For thirteen years it was anywhere from the most popular to third most popular music behind pop music which seems impossible in today’s world.

@ColdasBryyyce @ResedaCC I spent like 3 months listening to nothing but Michael Kiske side projects. Unisonic, Kiske/Somerville, Place Vendome, his solo AOR albums- all of it. I saw Helloween in 23 and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen

I have about 2,500 now- probably 2/3 rock and metal. I've never gotten into vinyl as it wasn't a thing anymore when I had my own money to buy albums. I've purchased a few over the years, but I don't have a decent turntable so it hasn't been a priority

Calm down, this is not a drill- It's finally here. Wildside's Under the Influence. I've listened to it 3 times so far. My favorites are Hang on Lucy, Looks Like Love, and Hair of the Dog. What's your favorite track? #glammetal #hairmetal
