Soooo many people missing the point here again. I'm not saying that we needed to bring those players back. I'm saying that "breaking up that core" just for the sake of doing so was idiotic and Stearns had one of the worst offseasons I've ever seen.

Clearly the only solution here is to break up the core. There’s something wrong in the clubhouse. They need to ditch Alonso, Nimmo, and McNeil immediately in the worst trades possible.

Fair point. Team was built to be more consistent offensively, especially in RBI spots with better contact/clutch hitters. Obviously a fail to this point. With runners in scoring position, Mets rank 23rd in BA at .225 and 28th in OPS at .620.

This is a funny statistical quirk re: Baty. His chase rate is up, yes (38% compared to 27% career). His his contact rate and zone rate are generally the same.
His chase rate is 28th highest among qualifiers, which leaves a lot to be desired right now.
