@draftniks The problem with Vientos is that he is a one tool player. If he isn't hitting bombs, then he's a replacement level player or worse. There will always be hot and cold streaks, so you need to be able to offer *something* else - draw a walk, steal a base, field a position, etc.

Pretty good Savant page for Mark Vientos. Been on a lot of pitches lately and largely unlucky as you can see. The advanced stats say Swaggy V should be hitting close to .300 and slugging close to .600 based on his contact. Yet #Mets fans insist he has been terrible and stinks! 🤣

You shouldn't be comparing Brandon Nimmo to Carson Benge. You should be comparing him to Marcus Semien.
Don't tell me the Mets couldn't have shipped Nimmo & $25M to some team to clear the contract. Or kept him to DH. Or 1,000 other things.

@bigdog44K @draftniks This is completely wrong, revisionist history. Nimmo got cups of coffee in 2016 and 2017 as a September call-up or injury replacement when guys like Lagares, Cespedes, and Conforto landed on the IL. Then in 2018 he was the opening day starter in LF and played 140 games.

The same 2016 MLB Pipeline ranking that has Cecchini ranked higher than Nimmo (as the org's #4 and #5 prospects respectively) includes this sentence about: "While many see Nimmo as a future fourth outfielder, the Mets still believe in his ability to be a regular."
