Presidente Pedro Sánchez @sanchezcastejon, Le hablo no solo como jurista mexicana, sino como hija de un republicano exiliado en México. En mi familia, la democracia no ha sido nunca un discurso: fue y sigue siendo memoria, pérdida y dignidad. Fue saber lo que cuesta cuando se destruyen las instituciones y se traicionan las libertades. Por eso sorprende -y preocupa- leer mensajes de “sintonía” y “defensa de la democracia” con el gobierno de Claudia Sheinbaum, heredero directo del proyecto de Andrés Manuel López Obrador. En México no estamos fortaleciendo la democracia. La estamos desmontando. Se ha debilitado la independencia judicial, se han erosionado contrapesos, se han desmantelado instituciones autónomas y se ha normalizado el uso del poder para someter, no para equilibrar. Y no, eso no es izquierda. La izquierda que defendieron quienes tuvieron que huir del autoritarismo -como mi padre- era una izquierda de libertades, de pluralidad, de límites al poder. No de concentración, no de lealtades ciegas, no de control institucional. Llamar “defensa de la democracia” a lo que hoy ocurre en México no solo es impreciso. Es profundamente injusto para quienes sabemos -por historia y por experiencia- lo que significa perderla. México fue refugio de quienes escapaban de la falta de libertad. Hoy, desde dentro, vemos cómo esa libertad se erosiona. Y eso, presidente, no debería celebrarse. Si realmente quiere ser congruente con los principios que dieron origen a su partido (mi padre fue miembro de el @PSOE aún a costa de su libertad y estando en riesgo su vida) y con la lucha de tantos españoles que defendieron la República y enfrentaron la represión franquista, debería rechazar este tipo de proyectos. No sumarse a ellos. Porque la democracia no se redefine al gusto del poder. Se defiende. Incluso -y sobre todo- cuando incomoda.
