Reflection and Growth. Life is a winding path where missteps are inevitable. Each day is a gift, offering a chance to learn from the past and move forward in a way that uplifts those around us. I strive to embrace this practice daily, knowing that life can feel overwhelming at times. Yet, taking a moment to pause engaging in both introspection and retrospection allows for greater clarity and purpose. These mindful habits help us navigate life’s journey as individuals, shaping a collective path that aligns with the greater plans set before us.

Right thumb along an axis, fingers curl the positive spin. Blue marks +x, red +y, green +z. Matching rings give +θx +θy +θz in that same curl. Dashed lines run the opposites. x × y lands on z. Flight controllers code these exact signs into a quadrotor’s attitude loop so a +θy pitch command always lifts the nose and never drives the craft inverted.

Plane stress on a material element changes with orientation, yet the extreme normal and shear values stay fixed. Mohr’s circle places the original face stresses as points A(σ_y, τ_xy) and B(σ_x, −τ_xy), centers the circle at σ_avg = ½(σ_x + σ_y), and sets the radius so τ_max,min = ±½(σ₁ − σ₂). Lines through the pole give the exact angles of the principal and max-shear planes. Mechanical engineers sizing shafts under torque and bending use the circle to keep the maximum shear below the yield limit of the alloy.

Roger Penrose's cyclic universe theory, called Conformal Cyclic Cosmology (CCC), proposes the universe goes through infinite cycles, where the end of one "aeon" (a universe's lifespan) smoothly transitions into the Big Bang of the next. Art: Andrea Belloni, @Waterflowing0, Used with permission

Pixels from a face photograph enter the input layer and get processed across three hidden layers of a deep neural network. The first hidden layer isolates edges. The second hidden layer forms combinations of edges. The third hidden layer constructs object models such as faces. Four nodes in the output layer generate the network response. Security systems at border control use this hierarchical feature extraction to identify travelers from passport photos against database matches.

GeoLibre v2.3.0 is here! GeoLibre is a free and open-source, lightweight, cloud-native GIS platform for visualizing, exploring, and analyzing geospatial data. It runs everywhere you do, in the web browser, on the desktop, on mobile, and inside Jupyter notebooks, all while keeping your data local and private. This release brings a legend that writes itself from your symbology, a new GeoLens catalog browser, and 200+ GeoLibre Rust geoprocessing tools running entirely in the browser. What's new in v2.3.0 - Automatic on-map Legend: the legend builds itself from your visible layers, with class rows for graduated, categorized, rule-based, and expression styling, gradient bars for heatmaps and raster colormaps, and land-cover labels from a Raster Attribute Table. Rename, hide, reorder, or add your own entries, and it saves with the project. - Symbology swatches in the Layers panel: every row shows a dot, line, square, or image glyph in the layer's own color, so a tall layer stack reads at a glance. - GeoLens catalog browser: connect to a self-hosted GeoLens server, search its catalog, and add datasets as vector tiles, GeoJSON, or rendered raster tiles. - Emerging Hot Spot Analysis: build a space-time cube from timestamped points and classify every cell as a new, intensifying, persistent, diminishing, sporadic, oscillating, or historical hot or cold spot, all client side. - Mosaic time series: the Time Slider now steps through MosaicJSON and STAC collections of many COGs per date, on either a GPU or a WASM rendering engine. - Copy and paste layer styles: give a whole set of layers one consistent look without restyling each in turn. - Shareable tool links: deep-link any Whitebox tool with a ?tool= URL that opens the dialog preselected and pre-fills the form, with a Copy link button to build it for you. - Smarter data loading: pick which layers to load from a multi-layer GeoPackage, import CSVs whose coordinates are in any projected CRS, and read a raster's real CRS, pixel size, and extent from the metadata dialog. - Multiple AI profiles: define several provider, model, and credential setups, pick a default, and switch between them from the assistant panel.
