Believe in BOSTON! 🇺🇸 ❤️🔥 Wrapping up an incredible 10 days across Boston and Cambridge for the world-premiere Boston Longevity Week — packed with impactful, history-shaping events and conversations defining the future of longevity. Having once called this city home, it felt incredible to be back — surrounded by world-class talent, ideas, and energy. 🙏 Over 7 days and 10+ events on both sides of the Charles River, key voices from the Boston ecosystem came together to begin discussing and building the first layer of community infrastructure creating the conditions for real collaboration and progress. It’s been a privilege to spearhead and coordinate this first edition, anchored by the annual Biomarkers of Aging Conference at Harvard Medical School, and to meet and speak in front of hundreds of people across conferences, hackathons, networking events, pitches, and private gatherings. I met remarkable and inspiring people, from cancer survivors optimizing their healthspan and lifespan to brilliant hackers, clinicians, policymakers, investors, leaders and pioneers working at the cutting edge. 🎯 Aging affects everyone — and everyone has a role to play. From this first edition, I’m confident Boston Longevity Week will grow into the city’s flagship annual series, showcasing its unmatched ecosystem and empowering the next generation of longevity innovators in Boston and beyond. There’s also a lot to bring back to Berlin — and a lot for Berlin to offer — through aligned ecosystem development and bridge building. Together, these two cities can create something truly special. The right people are now in the room; now it’s about building better coordination, efficiencies, and momentum to get things done 💪 🙏 Massive thanks to Methuselah Foundation (@mfoundation), Biomarkers of Aging Consortium (@agingbiomarkers), Life Sciences Tech Network - Berlin, Longevity Global (@LongevityGL), ekkolápto (@ekkolapto), The Alliance for Longevity Initiatives (@theA4LI), Longevity Biotech, Longevity Biotech Fellowship (@LBF_org), AgeTech Connect, Lifespan Research Institute (@LifespanRI), (Boston Health Innovation Night) Steven Wardell (@stevenwardell), Ethan Berg (@EthanBerg) of Winthrop Estate, Foresight Institute (@foresightinst), Æthos, Mindvyne (@Mindvyne), Berlin Business Office USA, German-American Business Council of Boston, Inc. (@GABCBoston), City of Boston (@CityOfBoston) and all the ecosystem partners, volunteers, enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, investors, sponsors, and more. Believe in Boston, believe in Berlin, and most importantly - believe in yourself! See you again in 2026! 💪

🏆 Congratulations to the winners of the Biomarkers of Aging Challenge Phase II: Mortality Prediction! Phase II pushed the boundaries of aging research by asking participants to develop cutting-edge proteomic models predicting mortality risk. After months of rigorous analysis and innovative data modeling, the winners have emerged: 🥇 1st Place: "Team Kauai" Comprised of Jakob Träuble of University of Cambridge (@Cambridge_Uni), Korbinian Träuble of Helmholtz Munich (@HelmholtzMunich), and Raphael Lermer of Deutsches Herzzentrum München (@MshiMunchen), Team Kauai developed a groundbreaking proteomic model that outperformed the GrimAgeV2 epigenetic clock. Their work sets a new standard for innovation in aging biomarker research and their model provides significant advancements in predicting mortality and age-related diseases. "The contributions of Jakob, Korbinian, and Raphael reflect exactly the kind of pioneering thinking we aimed to foster with this Challenge. Their approaches have set a new standard for innovation in aging biomarker research." Team Kauai will also receive $40,000 USD in awards as well - congrats! 🏆 About the Challenge & Why Mortality Prediction Matters The Biomarkers of Aging Challenge aims to generate the most accurate predictive models for aging biomarkers, including mortality and multi-morbidity. Mortality is a primary outcome for aging biomarkers due to its clear, defined nature, and reliable prediction models can pave the way for better aging assessments and longevity interventions. The competition leveraged a high-quality dataset featuring proteomic profiles, DNA methylation data, and health outcomes from over 500 individuals. These datasets allow us to develop predictive models for chronological age, mortality risk, and future disease incidence. Shout out to our wonderful friends and partners at Alamar Biosciences (@AlamarBio) for playing a key role in supporting this Challenge by providing their high-sensitivity NULISAseq™ immunoassay panels, enabling the accurate and detailed proteomic analysis necessary for this groundbreaking work. 🌟 Get Ready for Phase III: $100k in awards! Phase III of the Biomarkers of Aging Challenge, focusing on health span prediction and multi-morbidity outcomes, will kick off in Q3 2025. Stay tuned for more details!

Which aging clocks best predict age, lifespan, and disease onset? Despite their promise, these clocks still face challenges in validation and clinical application. Our Biomarkers of Aging Challenge, launched in late 2023, aims to overcome these hurdles and improve their accuracy for clinical use. Check out this article in @ScienceMagazine for more details: science.org/content/articl… P.S. With Phase 2 of 3 nearing completion, we are excited for our competing teams to showcase their progress during our 2024 Conference!

I appreciate all the memecoins that donate portions of their supply directly to charity. (eg. I saw ebull sent a bunch to various groups last month) Anything that gets sent to me gets donated to charity too (thanks moodeng! The 10B from today is going to anti-airborne-disease tech), though I truly prefer if you guys send to charity directly, maybe even make a DAO and get your community directly engaged in the decisions and process. I've said before that I think the best thing for memecoins is if they can be maximally positive-sum for the world, so it's great to see moments when that actually happens!
