@failedtomenace @FurmanU Paladin just keeps looking better and better. I also love a deep closer in Golden Tempo but his speed figures just aren’t there with Paladin. Paladin is my favorite heading into the derby

Well, PALADIN continues to follow in Sierra Leone's footsteps as he takes the Risen Star (G2) in his third career start.
I've been on this horse since the beginning mostly for his impressive physicals and connections, but also because I'm a proud @FurmanU Paladin. #HorseRacing

ARIZONA WILDCATS ML {-103}
👇 PREGAME THOUGHTS 👇
The Arizona Wildcats (9–3) square off against the SMU Mustangs (8–4) tonight in the 2026 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, with kickoff set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
There’s plenty of roster uncertainty heading into this matchup, but all signs point to Arizona being close to full strength. Head coach Brent Brennan has acknowledged that there could be opt-outs, though he has declined to reveal any names. This prevents SMU from knowing which starters may or may not be available and slightly complicates their game-planning process.
The main reason I’m backing Arizona is how strong the Wildcats finished the season.
After dropping two mid-October games by a combined nine points, Arizona rebounded in a big way, closing the regular season on a five-game winning streak. The Wildcats’ defense has been elite, allowing just 301.6 total yards per game on the season (17th nationally). Over those final five games, they surrendered only 17.0 points per contest. Arizona ranks third nationally in EPA per pass allowed and sits inside the top six in early-down EPA allowed.
While Arizona’s run defense isn’t elite, that weakness shouldn’t be exposed here. SMU’s offense is built around throwing the football and generating explosive plays, not grinding out yards on the ground. That plays directly into Arizona’s strengths, as the Wildcats excel at keeping opponents behind schedule and limiting big plays. On top of that, SMU will be without linebacker DJ Warner, and there’s a strong possibility additional contributors miss this game as well—an edge that could prove decisive.
The location also favors Arizona. This is a West Coast game for a West Coast team (it’s Arizona but you know what I mean), and the Wildcats should travel well. Expect a strong Arizona presence in San Diego as they look to close the season on a high note and secure a 10-win campaign.

LOUISIANA TECH -9 {-117}
👇 PREGAME THOUGHTS 👇
Coastal Carolina (6–6) takes on Louisiana Tech (7–5) in the Independence Bowl, set for 2:00 PM EST in Shreveport, Louisiana.
I don’t have a too intricate breakdown here, but these things stood out to me. I also recommend checking out @DonnyBergers87 post for this matchup as we tailing him on this 🫡
This sets up as a strong spot for the Bulldogs, and the reasons are pretty straightforward.
First, this is essentially a home game for Louisiana Tech. Playing in-state gives them a clear geographic and crowd advantage.
Second, Coastal Carolina comes into this game with major structural issues. They are operating under an interim head coach—formerly the defensive coordinator—despite fielding a weak defense all year long. The Chanticleers have consistently given up an alarming number of points, and there’s little reason to expect a sudden turnaround here.
Adding to those concerns, Coastal Carolina will be without its starting quarterback, which limits their offensive ceiling and puts even more pressure on an already struggling defense.
On the other side, Louisiana Tech brings a clear identity and matchup edge. The Bulldogs have forced 22 takeaways this season and boast the best run defense in Conference USA. Offensively, they want to lean on the run game—and that plays directly into Coastal Carolina’s biggest weakness, as the Chanticleers have shown they cannot consistently stop the run.
When you stack it all together—home-field advantage, defensive mismatch, quarterback absence, and a favorable game script—this matchup lines up cleanly for Louisiana Tech to cover a 2 score spread like they have done all season in their victories.
