As parents, we're at the age where we are truly entering The Organized Sports era and I guess we just...don't get to do anything other than take kids to games and practices for the next 6-8 years. Is that the deal?

@Jup1t3r13 @chrislhayes My son is one of the most humble kids you would ever meet. And he had a great experience with coaches who like kids and like the game of football. He did it because he wanted to and he loved it. That was his experience. I realize it’s not the same everywhere.

One guy said that organized sports had no value and I simply wanted to know why he said that because I found that, football, in particular was very valuable for my son. In saying so, I’ve been called stupid and my son is deemed entitled

@JWL63 @wolverine66 @dfvalenta2 @chrislhayes I didn’t mean to imply these kids are practicing 12 hours a day. Sometimes they workout and/or practice before school and sometimes after. They start in August and, if all goes as planned, end late November. Where we are, “blazing heat/bitter cold.

@JWL63 @dfvalenta2 @chrislhayes I give those kids a lot of credit. They are still at the 6am workouts and practice until 7pm in the blazing heat and bitter cold. It’s a huge commitment for these kids. But as I said, a lot of what they gain has nothing to do with the actual game.

@Carnosa22 @dfvalenta2 @chrislhayes I agree…It seems travel sports used to be for elite players to get another level of competition that they couldn’t get at their local level. Now, there are so many levels of travel sports, you don’t have to be good at all for them to take your money.

Remember not every family can afford this, other kids in the family may not want to be athletes, yet are dragged to all of sibling’s games. Artistic and glee club kids exist, too. Don’t get the same respect….

It was thrilling for sure but moreover, he learned about leadership, persistence, commitment, brotherhood, loyalty…
