To understand how badly this country is broken, just imagine that I receive over 1,000 complaints every day from different parts of Kenya. From companies, public institutions, private offices, banks, schools, hospitals, government departments, workplaces and ordinary citizens dealing with everyday injustice. It is everywhere. The problem is no longer just bad leadership. It is a rotten national culture where people abuse power, steal, intimidate, frustrate, neglect duty and expect victims to suffer quietly. This country needs more than reforms. It needs a serious moral reset.

💢 Six-year-old girl and a woman killed in Israeli attack on tent in Khan Younis The United States continues to facilitate Israel’s daily killing of Palestinian civilians, through full military and political support as Israel ignores the Trump-brokered ceasefire. Minattallah Nabil Abu Libdah, 6, was killed Monday in an Israeli attack on a tent in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. She had reportedly been recovering from a broken arm at the time of her death. Footage shows her father crying uncontrollably at the hospital next to her lifeless body. A second person, 31-year-old woman Hanan Mahmoud, was also killed in the Israeli attack, according to reporting by Mosab Abu Toha.

🚨 Trump demands Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan sign Abraham Accords as condition of Iran deal President Trump posted on Truth Social Monday demanding that all countries involved in Iran negotiations simultaneously sign the Abraham Accords, describing it as a prerequisite for any deal and warning those who refuse would be excluded from the agreement. “It should be mandatory that all of these Countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote, naming Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain as targets. The UAE and Bahrain are already members. 🔸Trump warned: “If they don’t, they should not be part of this Deal in that it shows bad intention.” 🔸He said it “should start with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and everybody else should follow suit.” 🔸He also dangled Iran’s own potential membership, writing: “If Iran signs its Agreement with me… it would be an Honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled World Coalition.” 🔹The Abraham Accords, brokered during Trump’s first term, normalized relations between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Kazakhstan. Trump’s demand would require the mediating countries to recognize Israel and normalize relations as a condition of ending the Iran war — a significant ask given that Saudi Arabia has publicly conditioned any normalization on a credible and irreversible path to Palestinian statehood, a position shared in various forms by Turkey, Egypt, and others on the list. 🔹The demand comes as the U.S. has allowed Israel to continue the daily killing of Palestinians in Gaza for more than seven months since the October 2025 Trump-brokered ceasefire, with over 900 Palestinians killed since the agreement was approved by Israel. The U.S. and Israel are also deliberately blocking minimum levels of food, medicine, shelter, fuel, and reconstruction aid. 🔹President Trump has also removed sanctions on the most violent Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, where rampant state-backed settler violence to uproot Palestinian families has gone unchecked since the start of his second term. 🔹Trump closed his social media post with a warning: “It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all — Back to the Battlefront and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before.”

A country borrowing Ksh 3.3 million per minute should at least show visible transformation in healthcare, jobs, food security, and infrastructure that changes lives. Instead, Kenyans are being told to tighten their belts while debt repayments consume the future. Future generations are inheriting obligations they never approved. At what point do citizens say enough is enough?

Parliament resumes today, and one of the biggest items on the agenda is the Finance Bill. Kenyans are hoping MPs will finally stand with the people this time. But let’s be honest: Our National Assembly no longer feels independent. It feels like an extension of the Presidency. If Ruto says “left,” most MPs will shout “how far?” Very few are willing to risk their seats to defend struggling Kenyans. Do you genuinely believe Parliament still works for the people?

My people of Kiambu County: When I announced my candidacy for Governor, I pointed out that what I want to bring to the County Government of Kiambu (@KiambuCountyGov) is: Prudence. Purpose. Progress Prudence means discipline. It means every shilling must be treated as sacred. It means cutting the bloat in government, hard-capping payroll, publishing spending, killing waste, and ending the culture of entitlement by those in government. So that the vast majority of money is spent serving citizens. Providing services. Developing our county, and creating jobs. Purpose means government must remember why it exists. Government does not exist to enrich those in office. It exists to serve citizens. To educate children. To support enterprise. To build roads. To fund clinics. To improve water access. To restore dignity to public service. I will cut wasteful spending, spend funds with purpose, and eliminate corruption. Progress means results. Not slogans. Not ceremonies. Not ribbon cutting without delivery. Real progress means bursaries that reach students and are enough to keep them in the classroom, hospitals that function, roads that are completed, procurement that is clean, and a county economy that creates jobs. With that in mind, take a look at the attached summary of how each shilling since devolution has been spent by the various county governments in our county since devolution. The numbers tell you everything you need to know about the upside-down priorities, greed, and frankly incompetence that has left so much pain and suffering in a county blessed with smart and industrious people. Consider these examples: In 11 years of devolution, our county has had KSH 142 billion to spend. To serve the 2.5 million people that call Kiambu County home. This is a lot of money, to be honest. Enough to do a lot of good. But how was it spent? Well, the first order of business was to spent KSH 72 billion on salaries for those in government. Kiambu County employs less than 1% of the 2.5 million people in the county. Yet, 51% of every shilling that came to Kiambu, a total of KSH 142 billion, went to salaries alone. The legal limit is 35%. This legal limit is designed to ensure that government serves citizens, not the other way round. When government is perverted into an extraction machine - we end up serving those in government, who naturally consume everything in sight. That is exactly what has happened here. By spending 51% of revenue when the legal limit is 35% - you and I have lost KSH 22.4 billion to those in government. Can you believe that? KSH 22.4 billion in 11 years. This is enough to: Build and equip 8 Level 5 hospitals. Hire 1,000 new doctors and 2,000 nurses for 5 years. Build 1000 classrooms to support 100,000 students. Tarmac 600 kilometers of roads. And still have over KSH 5 billion left! So - the point is, our issue is not the lack of money. It is greed of those in power, wastage, incompetence, and indifference. During this 11 year period, our county government has invested only 22% of the budget in "development". This is despite the legal requirement that at least 30% of the budget goes to development. The data is attached. In other words, the priority of those in government is to eat. To consume. For themselves. This 8% that is missing (30% minus the 22%), results in KSH 11.2 billion in missing development. It is the missing hospital. The missing road. It is the reason you and I have to buy water at KSH 5,000 per tank! It is a shame, and it needs to stop. During this same period, our county government has wasted KSH 4.2 billion travelling across the globe, for total nonsense. "Capacity building" in Dubai, at the cost of KSH 16 million. Another "Capacity building" in Dubai, at the cost of KSH 7.2 million. Another "Capacity building" in Dubai, at the cost of KSH 3.5 million. I think you are beginning to understand that these trips are a game. Nothing of value to you, and I. But these trips have cost us KSH 4.2 billion. Enough to build 5 Level 5 hospitals, for the benefit of all of us. Now - think about this: During this period, our county government has spent only KSH 1.5 billion on bursaries, FOR ALL THE CHILDREN IN THE COUNTY. A county with 2.5 million people. One shilling is spent on bursaries, for every three spent travelling for nonsense. This is what our issue is. Lack of seriousness by those in government. Upside-down priorities. What is worse, is that even the amount "spent" on development is often a lie. A fabrication. Take a look at the last attachment. These "hospitals" you see there, which are shameful - have cost close to KSH 500 million between them. The prices you see there were the original amounts, which were raised later as we have come to expect now. Wires are hanging in hallways of "hospitals" that look like they were constructed by Form 1 Building and Construction students. It is extraction all the way around. Not service to citizens. My point is this: We started with KSH 142 billion to serve people. 1% of the population took KSH 72 billion. Directly stealing KSH 22 billion above the legal limit. We lost KSH 11 billion in "missed development". We lost KSH 4.2 billion to wasteful travel. And that is before we factor in how much @Wamatangi_ , @GovernorBabayao and others have stolen from us. Almost all our governors leave office, and spend the next decade in courts because of corruption. Now you can begin to understand how a county with so much in resources ends up the way it is today. The most painful thing today is to see our people drunk at 10am in the morning on every corner of our county - because of lack of jobs and economic opportunities. And - knowing that this situation is avoidable. When @Wamatangi_ holds hostage permits for development from the likes of @Tatu_City - because he needs a few billion for himself, you and I suffer. Our neighbors suffer. Desperation increases. Crime increases. Families break down. That is the cost of charlatans in government. With your support, I will bring Prudence, Purpose, and Progress to Kiambu County. And I thank you in advance for your support. Read more at: bonniemwangi.com

Meet Professor Wangari Mutha' Maathai... (Note the two "aa" in the name Maathai instead of just Mathai) Many today know her as a towering global icon, a Nobel Laureate, and a fearless environmental crusader but behind all this is a woman, wife, and a mother. In 1966, Wangari met Mwangi Mathai, a fellow Kenyan who had also studied in the United States. They married in May 1969. Initially, they were a high-achieving, progressive young couple. Mwangi entered politics, and Wangari actively campaigned for him, helping him secure the Member of Parliament (MP) seat for Lang'ata in 1974. On the side Wangari was also chasing her carreer propects. Being a hard work who was also extremely smart Wangari's own profile grew, systemic friction began to warp the marriage. She became the first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a PhD (in veterinary anatomy) and was rising rapidly within the University of Nairobi. She wasn't just an academic; she was an activist fighting for equal benefits for female university staff. In a society that expected highly educated women to shrink themselves at home, Wangari’s booming voice and refusal to be subservient became a source of deep domestic and societal discomfort. Her politician husband started feeling not just jelous but also ashamed of the strong woman he was amrried to. And so in 1977, the couple separated, and in 1979, Mwangi Mathai filed for a highly publicized divorce. The grounds he leveled against her reflected the patriarchal panic of the era. He publicly accused her of being "too strong-minded for a woman," "cruel," and "unable to control." To completely strip her of her dignity in the eyes of the public, he falsely accused her of committing adultery with another MP (Waruru Kanja). The divorce trial became a national scandal, eagerly consumed by a public that wanted to see a powerful woman humbled. The judge ruled in the husband's favor. Wangari would give interview in which she called the judge either biased or outrightly incompetent. This enraged the judge leading to a contempt of court case being brought against her. She was sentenced to six months in prison. She served three days in Langata womens before her lawyers got her out. Following the trial, her ex-husband legally demanded that she drop his surname. In a brilliant, defiant stroke of malicious compliance, she simply added an extra "a" to the name, transforming herself from Wangari Mathai to Wangari Maathai. (Remember i told you the aa' will make sense). Newly divorced in public she had a second challenge to face now. She was a mother to three young children that she now was the sore parent to. She had already depleted her finaces in the divorce. The university forced her out of her staff housing because she had resigned to briefly run for public office, leaving her temporarily homeless with three children. Because of her political activism against the Daniel arap Moi regime, she was constantly targeted, arrested, and beaten by state operatives. She frequently had to make the heartbreaking decision her children away to stay with friends or relatives to keep them safe from police raids. Wangari would weather all these storms to finally launch her GreenBelt movement and also rasie her children. In 2022 she won her first parliamentary seat. Wangari Mathaai the icon suffered in thehands of Moi and his evil regime but she stood tall. Raising her children and building one of the most recognisable NGO's.

Kenya’s Finance Bill 2026 proposes a 15% capital gains tax on gains made by non-resident investors selling shares abroad where those shares derive their value from Kenyan assets or operations, targeting offshore exit structures widely used by foreign venture capital and private equity firms. The amendment to the Income Tax Act would also empower the KRA to tax transactions involving changes in group membership or ownership of Kenyan property. ICPAK warned that the provision’s broad wording could capture capital-raising transactions, group restructurings, and internal reorganisations at the holding company level, beyond straightforward asset sales. The proposal follows a KES 21 billion tax demand issued to Tullow Oil in 2025 over its offshore sale of Kenyan petroleum assets, and a 2017 KRA assessment linked to the sale of Java House through an offshore structure.

Kenya’s public debt now stands at over Ksh. 14 trillion, yet citizens have continued paying taxes and servicing these loans every single financial year. The big question every Kenyan must ask is: where did the money go? From our forensic audits as Safina Party, we maintain that Kenya has already overpaid a significant portion of these debts accumulated since 2013. What is happening today appears to be nothing more than institutionalised theft of public resources under the disguise of debt repayment, while ordinary Kenyans continue to suffer under a collapsing economy, punitive taxation, unemployment, and declining public services. A country cannot keep borrowing endlessly without visible transformation. Hospitals are struggling, schools remain underfunded, youth unemployment is exploding, and millions of Kenyans cannot afford basic necessities despite years of heavy taxation and debt servicing. We therefore hold that any debt found to be illegal, odious, corruptly acquired, or not benefiting the people of Kenya must be subjected to a transparent public audit. No administration should force citizens to carry the burden of debts that enriched a small political class while impoverishing the nation. Once we take over from Ruto’s regime, accountability shall not be optional. Every questionable debt agreement will be reviewed in the interest of the Kenyan people.
