@Top100Rick ANGC could only dream of having a course this firm and fast. This course is very playable for all and challenging for the best. It doesnt get any better

Royal Melbourne - West
#7/World Top 100
Alister MacKenzie & Alex Russell
Private
If you want to play Augusta National and can’t get on, this is the next best thing.
In many ways, it’s how Augusta would play if it didn’t hold the Masters.
It has the incredible hilly land, the amazing greens, the strategic land. But instead of being green and lush for TV and having lots of trees to challenge the pros, it’s kept its original intent to an amazing factor.
The fairways are wide so you can play for angles. The sandy waste areas are playable, so the risk isn’t too great to go for the proper third of the fairway.
The greens are so firm and fast. The slopes are steep and can be extreme. It all leads to some of the most fun you can have around the greens.
The fairways are so firm you can hit the ball a mile, but this makes staying in the fairway much tougher. The difference between and good drive and an okay drive that catches the taller grass or sand can be 50+ yards.
Everything about Royal Melbourne is amazing, truly one of the best clubs on earth and easily one of the best you could be a member.
Just a great day with amazing members and friends. 3 birdies certainly helped! 😂 Truly a masterpiece.

@AndrewKirbyGolf @SimonAndrew71 @mikeclaytongolf @EvinPriest That fact we can debate which world class par 3 is better is a great thing, you know both courses at RM better then I do, but it is still personal opinion. I do like 16 West though

@mhaslam23 @SimonAndrew71 @mikeclaytongolf @EvinPriest Incredible hole
But 16w probably better 🤷🏻♂️

St. Andrews Beach
2005 - Tom Doak & Mike Clayton
#18 in Australia
$85 USD
When Tom Doak said this was the course he wanted in his backyard, one could easily write it off as salesmanship of his work. (Understandable.)
But after playing it, I get it.
It’s the most natural course he’s ever designed. Most of the course was found in the land. Remove the old cover and bring in turf and the golf course was there, built by years of natural evolution.
The turf and conditions are incredible. It’s hard to explain how good the turf is in the region, the climate and soil is the best on earth. Made for bouncy golf, which is the best golf.
It’s very wide off the tee, but thanks to big natural contours where you land the ball matters. You can get lots of extra yardage or avoid a blind shot based on your drive placement.
The greens are big with fun slopes. The green exteriors are usually tight so you can putt or take a wood from off the green, plenty of options. You can play the ground game all day.
The bunker use is judicious. They are big and relevant, but avoidable. Generally the more you want to take them on, the better your next shot will be.
St Andrews Beach is simply one of the best public courses you can play and a value that is unmatched. If you head to Melbourne and don’t play here, you are missing out. It provides a great contrasting style to the famous courses of the sandbelt.

Arguably the best short par 4 in golf.
So I took a deep dive into the 10th hole at Riv and how players strategy has evolved over the years. 2024 was the last event at Riv. 2004 was the first year of ShotLink.
Numbers from 2004:
▫️Distance Ave: 248 yards
▫️Hit Green: 7
▫️GIR: 75 percent
▫️Drives under 250: 301-of-442 (68%)
▫️Scoring Ave: 3.79
Numbers from 2024:
▫️Distance Ave: 280 yards
▫️Hit Green: 3
▫️GIR: 65 percent
▫️Drives under 250: 6-of-240 (2.5%)

Spectators help Burmester move a giant rock in order to lay up on a par five 💪

@teekkelly @OCMGolf This hole is magic, you can make an eagle two or a triple bogey seven

@F1 McLaren get DQd like this actually helps Oscar I think, but Mclaren know fumble it when it counts
English

BREAKING: Both McLaren cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix
This is because the thickness of the rearmost skid of both cars was less than the required thickness

@JonathanYarwood Im currently doing my golf traineeship and my thought is that where reasonable delivering the club on a shallower angle of attack is better then being steep as you present more of the club face to the ball and tend to have more consistent ball striking, Thoughts?
English

Answer here is the left one is better for him for a short chip. Both styles can work but his old one on the right got even steeper coming down making handle get too far ahead at impact . On the left the club came in wider and skidded better allowing club to pass better thru it
JonathanYarwood@JonathanYarwood
Which is better on this short chip? Left or right? 🤷♂️

@Takeitasread1 @meg_maclaren Tourist visa is probably nothing, but a working visa will definetly cost an arm and a leg

I know a lot of people are interested in the financial costs of being a professional golfer. I’ll go into tournament expenses another time, but seeing as I’m currently catching up on my accounts, here’s an example of what my golf costs were last month (Jan 2025):
- Entry fees (joining/membership fee for WPGA Tour, first LET event in Morocco) = £691.40
- Flights (to and from Spain for a practice week for myself and my coach, to and from Morocco for LET event, to and from Australia for LET events in Feb/March) = £1910.76
- Visa for Australia = £214.10
- Indoor TrackMan practice (while courses were closed ❄️❄️❄️) = £240
- Lessons/coaching = £150
- Green fees/practice fees for warm weather practice week = £143.91
- Outstanding management fees/commission from 2024 season = £2688.04
- Equipment check up = £50.00
- Gym membership = £31.00
- Physio = £96.00
- Car (rental/petrol for warm weather practice) = £182.30
- Food/drink during warm weather practice = £154.34
Total = £6551.85 (around $8250)

@JonathanYarwood @TrackmanGolf Do you think its worth switching between a mini driver and a normal driver depending upon where the tour plays each week
English

Plenty expert on here…..let’s see what ya got….🤷♂️🔥 if you’re teaching this guy at this event what numbers or numbers would you want to change and how would you do it? 🤷♂️ vid @trackmangolf

@JonathanYarwood @TrackmanGolf Low launching with spin looks good to me, great for controling the ball
English

I’m on-board with shorter quarters in the @AFL
I’d take 6 mins off each quarter.
- Longer footy life for the stars.
- Less injuries
- Games under 2hours30
- slash interchange as well!!
Listen to @3AW693 at 335pm
Patrick Dangerfield@dangerfield35
As audiences attention span reduces the debate will continue with the AFL quarter lengths. It’s Time to reduce them. - cue outrage 🤬

@flushingitgolf He has serious game and I always rate people who travel and play over those who stay in one country. His decision to sign with LIV was good for him as it has given him the $$$ to be able to travel and play. He doesnt need an invite, he will get to Augusta on merit soon
English

When David Puig joined LIV Golf, he was ranked well outside the top 2000 in the world. Since then he has travelled the globe to play in as many Asian Tour and DP World Tour events as possible to gain access to majors, and he has now reached a career high of 87 on the OWGR.
At just 23 years old, David has quickly announced himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the sport. He’s won twice, has finished top 5 in his last 4 DP World Tour starts, and proven he has the motivation and talent to get to the very top.
I think it would be really cool if Augusta National recognised his achievements, against the odds to climb the rankings, and extended him an invite to The Masters. He absolutely deserves it.
