Once you all come out of the RCB euphoria do think how unjust & one sided the broadcaster’s coverage was. They did not show Punjab Kings even once. Nothing about Shashank Singh & his efforts. The guy was just one hit away from glory. Runners up deserve coverage too. #IPLFinals

I know NEET PG postponement must be sigh of relief for some but don’t let that mull you into inaction. If you want a break- take a focused 2 day break. But don’t let it break your momentum . Have seen many lose momentum and end with a worse rank than they actually deserved.

Just feeling happy for everyone who're going home on Diwali. I feel so numb and detached given the fact that I've to do two 30 hrs shifts in four days. Sleep deprivation is so legit omg. Completed one month of residency, with most generic question in my head, "is it worth it? "

I read a WA status at the beginning of the World Cup and sort of dismissed it. ‘AFG of 2023 is Kenya of 2003’ Might come true!

You will learn to manage every single minute of your time during the first year PG Residency...Apart from that quality to learn distribution of time in priority order, from top to bottom, is also important. #NEETPG2023 #MD #MedTwitter

@GabbbarSingh I never thought I would see a day in the World Cup when South Africa is looking much more clinical and efficient than Australia.

Today is World Mental Health Day Indian government spends 1.5% of its GDP on health and 1% of that 1.5% on mental health. Nepal,Srilanka and Bangla Desh spend proportionately much more. An article in Lancet Psychiatry reported that it actually makes sound financial sense for countries to treat mental illness early, as one dollar invested in mental health yields a return of four dollars by way of increased productivity. It simply means that for countries it is cheaper to treat mental illness than not to. It is ironic that one has to use the ‘’bang for buck” argument with elected leaders of a welfare state and to remind the GDP obsessed planners that treating the mentally ill early will lead to an increase of 0.5% in GDP in the short run and even more in the long run. Today governments will have day long functions all over the country. But what will not happen is even a rupee increase in allocation of funds for mental health services. One reason for health not being a priority is that in India, it has never been a politically important subject. In India, no election not even a municipal election has ever been fought on the platform of health. Health Minister of India has never been a politically strong person. In fact, if the health portfolio is offered to a person who is politically strong, he will probably feel insulted. That is one reason for the public health system being chronically starved of funds There will also be awareness seminars and meetings. While it is great that awareness is increasing which leads to breakdown of stereotypes and that is crucial, mental health unfortunately is also being perceived as a glitzy bandwagon (imagine that) to hitch on to and promote pop psychology and spiritual interventions of all types. That does not mean awareness can be spread only by psychiatrists. Mental health awareness is far too important to be left only to specialists. It has to be inter-sectoral. It needs whole community, mental health activists, civil society, schools, prisons, universities, recovered patients and their famililies. But saying " be positive and pull youself up " is not awareness; it is trivializing mental illness because one cannot 'feel positive' on order, and that makes a persons with mental illness feel worse. Putting the onus on the person also amounts to victim shaming. And mental illness is common, very common. 10-12 % of people reading this post would have had or will at sometime in life have a mental disorder by whatever name one calls it. And that includes mental health professionals. Yes, if cardiologists can have heart issues and ophtalmologists can get cataract, why cant' the mental health workers have mental disorders ? It is an illness anybody can have. Fortunately the commonest mental disoders are also the most treatable. Treatment also does not involve costly investigations or procedures.

45/F who has had long standing multiple joint pain and was being treated by a local BAMS physician, recommended by her friends as he offers a very quick solution to all illnesses! He has a magic pill which he prescribes to most of his patients. Guess? ☹️ #MedX #MedTwitter
