The single greatest predictor of your physical health at 80… is the quality of your relationships at 50.
Not your supplements. Not your net worth. Not your VO₂ max.
Isolation is one of the strongest predictors of all-cause mortality. That should change how you measure success.
I sat down with @SahilBloom to unpack the five types of wealth that actually matter, and why small, daily investments in the right direction compound more than you think.
If you’re feeling stuck, don’t wait for clarity. Take one small action. Today.
3 brutal writing truths I learned as a beginner writer (which I still keep stapled to my desk):
1. I—the writer—am 100% completely and utterly irrelevant.
While it might seem harsh at first, this truth is liberating.
It takes the pressure off "me" and puts it all on the writing itself.
2. The reader does not care about my writing—they care what it does for them.
They do not care how long it took you, how much research you did, or how great you think it is.
And this truth forces you to write from a place of empathy (rather than a place of ego).
3. No matter how good I think it is, it's only as good as the market's reaction.
And finally, this reality check further kills my writing ego.
I could think it was the best piece in the world.
But if the audience doesn't find it:
• Helpful
• Valuable
• Or entertaining
Then I need to accept that feedback, iterate, and try again.
My friends, please take a moment right now to stop what you’re doing and pray for Victor Davis Hanson. This national treasure is confronting a major health challenge and especially today needs us to lift him up in prayer. Thank you.
Unfortunately 2 days after Tina launched in the USA we ran out of stock hitting sales bad.
After a mad scramble it is back in stock everywhere.
Any help getting the word out would be appreciated…. (1/3) 🧵
This is difficult. Tomorrow I say goodbye to Peaches💔 I contemplated not saying anything until tomorrow, but I want Peaches to feel the love she deserves before she goes. I know how lucky I've been to have a dog who's lived well into her 20s. She's been by my side for most of my adult life. My best friend. My guardian angel. Dog of a lifetime, for sure. As I type this with tears in my eyes, I'm hoping that you will leave a comment for Peaches. Maybe just tell her how great of a job she did? I'll read them to her, & show her a little extra love. I'm convinced that she stuck around a couple of extra years, so she could meet Della. You did an amazing job, sweet girl. I love you so much. We'll miss you.
Brought my dad to work today.
A retired union painter, all he did was stare at my degrees 😊
Degrees that wouldn’t be possible without his emphasis on prioritizing education and working to afford the schools I attended.
Thank you, Dad😊
If you are reading this right now I am wishing you a week filled with kindness, love happiness and peace with a touch of magic. May something truly wonderful happen to you this week ✨✨✨
Someone is already try to claim a spot on the street in anticipation of the storm tomorrow. Glad I don’t have to deal with that.
But what are your thoughts on this long standing Chicago tradition??
@RealCooperAlan Just got tickets for the Rosemont show! Just discovered you on instagram, saw one of your mashups which lead me to your other music.
The funny thing is I’ve never been a fan of country music. Guess I am now! Can’t wait for the show!
Friday tradition: finding a little joy no matter how hard the week.
Tell me something good.
What good thing happened in your life this week?
Changed your life or just changed your mood, just something good.
@m_crouton My heart goes out to you at this terribly difficult time. While there are no words to truly comfort someone after the loss of a loved one, may all of the outpouring of love embrace you.
🧵 I’m finally in a place I can talk to you all. Just after 11, last Tuesday, I found Diane. She was unresponsive, no pulse. I started CPR and dialed 911. I remembered someone saying real CPR isn’t like the movies. I felt her ribs break and hoped it was enough. 1.
