@NWSLaCrosse I thought we were supposed to have severe thunderstorms today. That’s what the yellow highlights were for.

4:12pm | Isolated storms will continue to develop near and west of the Mississippi River through late-afternoon. While these are not expected to become severe, any stronger storm may be capable of producing small hail and gusty winds. Seek shelter indoors if storms approach.

@NWSLaCrosse Literally everywhere, but Rochester. I got nothing severe here where I am in Rochester. Just a normal thunderstorm.

4/17 @ 2:58 PM - The severe storm threat will continue through the mid afternoon. Storms along this line in SE MN and NE IA have a history of producing multiple tornadoes. Large hail and damaging winds will also be a threat. Be alert and stay weather aware! #iawx #mnwx #wiwx

@NWSLaCrosse like I said. Absolutely nothing happened in Rochester. A small amount of tiny hail. Rain and a little lightning. Nothing severe. Nothing is ever severe in Rochester.

@NWSLaCrosse So whatever that was spotted by a train weather spotter didn’t last very long and it probably wasn’t very big. Cause big tornadoes never happened anywhere close to here that’s for sure.

@NWSLaCrosse There’s absolutely nothing severe about this in Northwest Rochester at all. No wind. No hail where I’m at so far. Definitely no tornadoes remotely close. And that tornado warning. Radar doesn’t even show any rotation or hook, echo or anything.

@NWSLaCrosse the last time it was supposed to be so severe Rochester had no hail, no wind, no tornadoes. Just heavy rain and lightning. Which is not severe. It’ll probably be the same today except maybe we won’t have much rain either. It all happens somewhere else.

@NWSLaCrosse How the heck is it increasing when it looks to me like all of the storm development is north of our area. And there is zero development anywhere in Iowa or most of southeast Minnesota including Rochester. And now we have clouds, which will be the excuse why it doesn’t happen.

4/17 @ 10:05 AM - A strong to severe storm threat is increasing across NE Iowa and SE Minnesota this morning. Large hail, up to 2 inches, and some damaging winds will be possible with the strongest storms. #iawx #mnwx #wiwx

@NWSLaCrosse I thought Rochester was supposed to see rain and storms again today. We have absolutely nothing and there doesn’t look like there’s anything even coming to us.

4/15 - 3:30 PM Update - Storms out across Northeast Iowa this afternoon have been sub-severe thus far but the show isn't over just yet. Large hail and gusts to 60 mph will be possible if storms can get their act together over our area (we hope they don't!) #iawx #wiwx

@NickJansenWX where are Rochester storms? Rochester was in the circle of areas to really watch and everything is way out of Rochester area to the north. That is so typical.

@NWSLaCrosse How is that possible in the circle you guys have highlighted that includes Rochester when nothing is even remotely close to here? I have zero confidence in anything happening around here.

@NWSLaCrosse Why does it always stay far away from Rochester? Where are the big storms for us? It literally all is far away from this city all the time during the spring and summer. And Rochester is one of the cities that was highlighted for being under the gun. And we have nothing.

4:45 PM Update: The strongest storms have stayed closer to the Twin Cities near Faribault and Goodhue. These storms in particular have gone on to be prolific hail producers - not just large hail but lots of it. This is what these storms can do 📸 Rice County Emergency Management

4:30pm Update: Our strongest storm continues east through Goodhue Co, with hail up to 2.75" (plowable at times) and potential for a tornado. Additional storms are firing along a line from Mankato toward west-central WI. #mnwx #wiwx

@NWSLaCrosse Why don’t we just totally miss Rochester. Cause you know that makes perfect sense. Everything is north right now. But for all of these spring storms that is so typical. It’ll set up north or south, but not through Rochester. Will anything actually happen? Not confident.

4/13 2:55 PM: Storms are already starting to take off along and north of the front across SE Minnesota and WC Wisconsin. These storms will pose a large hail threat initially with the tornado threat confined close to the boundary along I-90. Be prepared for any warnings!

@NWSLaCrosse There’s really no reason why we shouldn’t see 15+ inches. For crying out loud that’s what was predicted just a day ago. At least 12 would be nice, but there’s no reason why Rochester shouldn’t be able to get at least 15 from this storm and other storms at times

@NWSLaCrosse I really hope we don’t turn into freezing rain and sleet in Rochester. I wanna see high totals in this storm. We need to be at at least 12 inches here in Rochester if not higher. For once in three, maybe four years, we have to get major snow totals

Ongoing snow north of the I-90 corridor will increase markedly in intensity over the next several hours with snow rates up to 2" per hour closer to sunrise. Along the I-90 corridor, the light snow will change over to a mix of freezing rain and sleet. Thunder can't be ruled out.

@NovakWeather I know I’m complaining and nobody can control this weather. It’s just so frustrating that this city and this southeast Minnesota area for whatever reason cannot seem to be in the highest totals. For crying out loud the deep south states can have more snow in a snowstorm than us.

@NovakWeather The forecast was supposed to have brought the biggest snows right over Rochester area. But it always seems to be more north south east or west when it actually happens. Even the recent narrow snow band we had gave Rochester an inch but just south got seven It’s our turn.

@mndotscentral There is absolutely no reason why a storm can’t make Rochester the center of the high snow totals. No freaking reason at all. And it’s the same way for spring and summer storms. Where the Frick is Rochester’s 12 to 15 inches of snow?

@mndotscentral I will see many storms with 12+ inches. North of Rochester can’t see 12+ inches. East into Wisconsin can see 12+ inches. Even west of here has seen more snow in any storm than Rochester has. We’re in a hole that gets less every single time. I’m sick of it.
