Every opening in masonry is an opportunity. A lintel, a segmental arch, a half round arch—just a few simple details and it can be so beautiful!

We’re cooking! Really exciting to see it come together. These chamfered corners….they add add so much to the design and soften the edges.

The Spurs represent all that is right with pro hoops. Smaller basketball market, well run organization, rabid fandom, born thru the ABA with a rebel’s spirit. It’s one of the honors of my life to have been an original member of the San Antonio Spurs!! Por vida

Worth noting that I checked every session in the 1970s and 1980s for a bill protecting farm workers from pesticide sprays like the one the mayor described in this video, and I didn’t find anything. Not saying that it did not happen, just saying I could not find it.

According to the Texas Legislative Reference Library online, in the 65th session (1977), then Rep. Whitmire filed HB 855; a bill to make “the transport of a known illegal alien” a class A misdemeanor. So much for standing with undocumented immigrants. (lrl.texas.gov/legis/billsear…)

HB 1896, 70th Session (1987) Effective 1988. Relating to requiring certain agricultural employers to provide agricultural laborers with information concerning hazardous chemicals to which they may be exposed during their employment... lrl.texas.gov/legis/billsear…

@BobChoate54 Great question. I am not going to put others on blast right now, beyond the mayor for his statement in this video, but I think there are both R’s and D’s in our city who are honest about their positions. And both R’s and D’s who are not honest about their positions.

@michael_ulf But you chose to use that as the "gotcha." Please tell us... who in Houston politics is honest, in your opinion? As for "transparent," it's a misused word, IMO.

@BobChoate54 Definitely. My search was less about the specific policy/context of the time and more about how frustrating it is that our mayor claims to be transparent but demonstrates a consistent lack of transparency. I expect all our electeds to be trustworthy regardless of ideals, he isn’t

I’m disappointed in today’s vote, but this fight is far from over. This has always been about protecting families, upholding the Constitution, and keeping our officers focused on solving crime, not doing the job of ICE. While I am hopeful based on the City Attorney's assurances that this amendment will continue to end HPD's 30-minute wait for ICE and not permit officers to detain on the basis of a civil administrative warrant alone, Houstonians shouldn’t have to rely on promises when these safeguards should be written into law. I’m glad transparency and reporting requirements that we passed remain, representing meaningful progress in improving accountability. I will keep fighting alongside Houstonians to defend our constitutional rights and protect families.
