@CroneMacaela @KIN110UofR Super interesting Mac! An interesting view since politicians can be viewed so negatively in the media. Especially if they were disliked as an athlete! #kin110summer

@KIN110UofR In this article it shows how politics and athletics have collided. I think this article shows some angles we don’t always think of as politics within sport. google.com/amp/s/syndicat…

@KIN110UofR I found this article regarding professional athletes becoming politicians very interesting. It shows how these athletes come from many different sports to represent many different views of politics cheatsheet.com/entertainment/… #kin110summer

@KIN110UofR In this article, Brittney Griner responds to the brawl. What I found interesting was the pay gap, as it mentions that the maximum pay for one WNBA season is $115 000, which is not even comparable to the NBA. Are we getting any closer to equal pay? amp.azcentral.com/amp/1993943001

@KIN110UofR Speaking of women in the media, check out this video of the Phoenix Mercury and Dallas Wings getting in a brawl after some tough physical post play. Not often we see women fighting in sport, what do you think? google.com/url?sa=t&sourc… #womenssports #kin110summer
English

@KIN110UofR Although I believe it’s getting better, I know it’s a struggle the media world faces. There is demand for equality to show women’s sports, however networks find it difficult to get interested viewers because they are not used to seeing #womenssports. It’s a circular argument.
English

@KIN110UofR It absolutely has! The most recent example I can think of is the amount of WNBA games being played on TV this season. As seen in this article, 40 games will be shown in prime time this season, along with the multi-year deal going forward wnba.com/news/wnba-and-… #kin110summer

@JenelleRadUofR @KIN110UofR I feel as though the number of people attending events such as Rider games every week has prepared the city for an event like the Heritage classic in terms of the concerns you mentioned here #kin110summer
English

@KIN110UofR My only concern is the fact that the city might not be fully prepared & will have to try and accurately project sales in terms of #food, #beverages, #souvenirs, etc. As well as watch that they aren’t generating waste that could potentially put #profit into question.
English

@KIN110UofR I think it will have a positive economic impact on Regina! I underatand that there can be many costs associated with hosting a game such as this one, but I believe so many people in Regina will want to be involved and attend that it will bring revenue to the city #kin110summer

@KIN110UofR It is also important to note that two different kids participating in the same sport might have different opportunities for improvement based on the coaching and training their respective families can afford. #KIN110summer
English

@KIN110UofR I also believe that access to facilities and programs may be more expensive depending on the city you live in. However, this may not allow all families to participate in sport programs depending on their income #KIN110summer
English

@KIN110UofR Definitely depends on where you live. For example, I am currently coaching the provincial basketball team, and although the cost to play is the same for all girls, it is much more expensive from a travel perspective for the girls who live further from Regina and Saskatoon
English

@CroneMacaela @KIN110UofR Agreed! Especially as the Canadian women’s soccer team continues to do as well as they have been in the past few years, it could be inspiring many more young girls to become involved in the sport #KIN110summer
English

@KIN110UofR I always thought of soccer as #inexpensive sport,But I know that sports have became more expensive over the years. The more competitive kids get within playing a sport it is very fast for it to become more expensive, so I think Canada will increase just like the US has.
English

@KIN110UofR I do think that soccer is an inexpensive sport when talking about equipment. However, I think that new trends in sport require children to play on so many teams and different leagues, that including travel costs, it can be just as expensive as other sports #KIN110summer
English

@KIN110UofR I can only hope so as an avid basketball player, coach and spectator myself! I believe it would be extremely difficult to overtake the country wide culture built around hockey. But I loved seeing the country ban around the Raptors in this past NBA finals! #kin110summer

@BKin110 @KIN110UofR @MichelleMoskal3 @MandeepWaraic13 @MeganLalonde15 @hudsonkin110 @Debbie79269630 @SchepensShelby @DavidOKIN110 2/2 if there is some way to regulate that the amount of hormone being taken allows the amount in their body to be similar or the same as other athletes competing in the event, there would be no problem. I just don’t know if that’s a possibility #kin110summer

@BKin110 @KIN110UofR @MichelleMoskal3 @MandeepWaraic13 @MeganLalonde15 @hudsonkin110 @Debbie79269630 @SchepensShelby @DavidOKIN110 1/2 I struggle with this one a lot. Because I am obviously supportive of people doing what they need to become who they want. However I also understand that they have to take hormones to achieve the desired result...

@KIN110UofR telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics… This article discusses how Michael Phelps has many #geneticgifts which allowed him to be the successful swimmer he was, yet he was never questioned for his extreme wingspan or lack of lactic acid #kin110summer
English

@KIN110UofR I think it is completely unfair to ask her to depress a hormone she makes naturally because it might make her stronger or faster than other athletes. She has not done anything illegal or wrong in this case #kin110summer #geneticgift
