📢 We are excited to announce a new @QuantMig database! Around a year ago, @_RafCosta, @michaelboiss & @ValkHelga created and run a survey on the future of migration between Europe and the Middle East & North Africa. The data can now be downloaded at Zenodo 👇Follow the thread

This is an ambitious project that will allow knowing more about the current and future state of the world’s endangered languages. It was designed by myself and Harald Hammarström and it is supported by the Wenner-Gren foundation.

I am late to announce that this week I officially started working at the Department of Linguistics and Philology of the University of Uppsala on a new postdoctoral project called “Estimates of speaker numbers and dormancy year for the world's endangered languages”.

One can have reservations about the Frontiers journals but I do appreciate their transparency. I am not sure why but am I positively surprised that Prof. Wolfgang Lutz was a reviewer for this paper.

We asked migration scholars how migration to Europe might change under different social and environmental scenarios. How the situation will develop in sending countries will generally matter more than in Europe. New study by myself & Petra de Jong. journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.338…

@dil_yildiz No worries, it wasn't meant that way! The categories on the plot just looked very familiar to me. It is cool to see your work live on.

I spent far too much time and tried too many graphs and drawings (🙈) until I figured out the interaction between drivers of migration can be plotted using the circular plots 🤓 #notonlyforflows #RStats #AcademicTwitter #migration

(caution: possible survivorship bias) Today I did the mandatory technical inspection of my car, first time ever for me in 🇩🇰 The guy showed me coffee machine, took the keys, and drove away for ~1/2 hour. Then he came back and said "All fine. Of course, Toyota". That was it >>>

In a paper I write that "fertility is biologically constrained among women". What trans-inclusive/gender-inclusive note could I add regarding the use of the term "women" here? "Refers to persons of female biological sex"?
