Will Casemiro do a Paul Scholes?
Casemiro already announced he is leaving Manchester United at the end of the season. Ever since then he has been having good games and the fans and everybody wants him to stay at least one more season.
Paul Scholes did something quite unusual and impressive late in his career.
After retiring at the end of the 2010–11 season with Manchester United, Scholes stayed involved as part of the coaching staff. But in January 2012, due to an injury crisis in midfield, manager Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to come out of retirement.
Here’s what followed:
He re-signed for Manchester United in January 2012.
Initially expected to be a short-term fix, he performed so well that he extended his stay.
He played through the remainder of the 2011–12 season and the entire 2012–13 season.
In the 2012–13 campaign, he contributed to United winning the Premier League title.
So in short, he came out of retirement at age 37, played at a high level, and helped his team win another league title.
