@DDrolapas I have a legal unit at my house, and I would never in a million years rent it out.

I once was selling a rent controlled apartment building in San Francisco and one of the tenants was a group of early Facebook employees. I approached them and asked if they would be interested in buying the building because I figured they had significant net worths. They were not interested at all. I think about this often.

@NancyMace A good way to test a proposal is to try to argue the opposite. For example, "young families struggling both to raise children and look after their parents should not pay property taxes." Fun game, right?

@AndrewMorcheles @cremieuxrecueil Lots of brilliant people are devoting their lives to curing cancer at universities, startups, and big pharma all over the world. I know some of them. Believing that all of these people are just faking it in the service of a vast international conspiracy is insulting.

Eli Lilly has done it. They've gone and made what seems to be a powerful, permanent gene therapy for LDL cholesterol. That means they'll be able to effectively prevent most heart disease with a single infusion!

@LifeOfPhat @staysaasy Talent is how good you are at something and how rapidly you’ll improve. Experience is how long you’ve been doing it. Some people can run a 5 minute mile the first time they get on a track. Others can train their whole life and not crack 8.

It's super simple: High talent + experienced: 10/10 High talent + inexperienced: 8/10 Middling talent + experienced: 4/10 Middling talent + inexperienced: 3/10 Absolutely crazy how companies continue to get this so catastrophically wrong.

@thechosenberg Whether you’d protect a loved one you knew to be guilty of murder is a common question asked to determine the health of a culture. In healthy and ethical cultures, the answer is more likely to be yes. In toxic and corrupt cultures, the answer is no.

And they have to decide what's right for them, not you. And it's way too early for them to know at this age. Ask the question again when they are 16. It's also too early to know what the role of college will be in 10 years. You can argue it will be less important than ever, but you can just as easily argue it will be more important than ever.

@SMB_Attorney The world is a big place. There is some room for a few fringe experiments. Plus the Enhanced Games has pretty strict guidelines of its own about what is allowed and not.

@t_blom My favorite founders spend their time at industry tradeshows at the Columbus Airport Hilton. Bonus if they can't afford to attend the show so just hang out at the bar 24 hours a day.

A founder just apologized for dialing in to office hours from a car. It’s the sixth time he’s done this. He spends close to 100% of his time meeting customers in unglamorous places a long way from San Francisco. I wish more founders did this.

People are still discussing jobs on here like it’s 2015 That era is over. A decent house in a nice neighborhood is $2 million. Monthly expenses for a very standard lifestyle with a family are $20k If you want any sort of luxury lifestyle, it's own a business or bust
