@PaulBrandITV After the council results in St Helens last week not exactly surprising as Reform would be salivating at the prospect of a by-election there. I'm guessing there's a Liverpool MP you could be tracking down instead.

Marie Rimmer, who was rumoured to be among the MPs who could stand down to give Andy Burnham a route back to parliament, gives the PM her full support and says she does not want a leadership contest.

@clarkaw Do any of his successors think the press are going to give them a free ride? Is there a magic pot of money somewhere? Are any of them better communicators than Starmer? The answer to all of these questions is no.

If Starmer is forced out, he’ll be the fifth PM in a row to last less than a full term. There are some structural issues making the job near impossible. Changing the name above the door won’t fix it.
