This is the country I fought for. Tradition. Community. Family. Faith. Kids dancing in the streets without a care in the world. Shot this a few days ago here in Devon. Moments like this remind you what actually matters.

OK, I know I'm not exactly Starmer's biggest fan. But that was bad. Really bad. Not just bad in the context of the moment. But bad on any objective level.

@cooksey_mr26572 @simmo1024 @LozzaFox Yep, that’s another thing. It has caused many problems for the local community, girls followed home, littering, antisocial behaviour, theft in local shops. Needs to be closed down.

@cooksey_mr26572 @simmo1024 @LozzaFox Because Birmingham City Council bleeds us dry. There’s no wonder it’s the safest, most affluent area of Birmingham… it’s not hard to beat anyways.

Why should any Scot, with roots in Scotland going back centuries, be subjected to a law helped passed by a foreigner here on a student visa?

@BirminghamWeAre It does. UK government both Tory and Labour have shat all over Brum the last 25 years. Brum can lead the way. Charge Sutton Coldfield posh Tories more to enjoy the benefits of being part of this wonderful city and sell Northfield/Frankley etc... to Bromsgrove

Does this outcome of the elections and no overall control represent a massive opportunity for the city if the candidates commit to work together in the interests of the city? Could the campaign #LookUpBirmingham be endorsed and supported by all candidates.

The wider West Midlands should be a fully-fledged region with an elected multi-party Assembly holding the West Midlands Mayor to account, just like in London. Birmingham shouldn't be a single council. It's too big, no longer works politically and will never be well run.
Ben Brittain@BenABrittain

Want to understand what happened in the local elections, Birmingham is a good start; a microcosm of British politics in one city, a Frankenstein rainbow morphed from the dead two party consensus, with sectarian politics, white working class grievance, and desperate economic anger
