The FA agreed to scrap FA Cup replays because of “expanded European” demands on seven elite Premier League clubs who don’t enter the Cup until the third round anyway, have big squads and some will go on post-season tours or to the Fifa Club World Cup. Such a senseless, heartless decision highlighted this weekend with Non-League clubs like Weston-super-Mare, Hednesford Town, Guiseley, Southend United and others denied a replay, a chance of more revenue and potential memories for a lifetime. The Cup is a great competition, a historic institution that should be cherished and better protected. The game is about David as well as Goliath. #FACup

Those complaining (and some booing) the decision to take off Sandro Tonali must have watched a different game to me. He was the weakest of the three midfielders by some distance. He did very little to impact the game. Could have easily come off earlier as far as I’m concerned #nufc

@NUFCLC At the end of the day for me the squad isn’t good enough. Some of that comes down to Howe for me. He’s certainly getting things wrong but In the last 2 weeks we’ve missed pivotal chances to take an extra 4 points from the games. That’s on the players.

I see some social media chatter is turning to Eddie Howe’s future at Newcastle after a first home defeat since January. It’s the nature of modern football sadly but who the hell is out there who would come in and do a better job with this group of players? I don’t see anyone and we know PIF aren’t chucking money around to get player targets let alone managers.
Newcastle are already struggling with PSR again so his pay off would be another huge dent in that. You don’t have a release clause of more than £6m without similar in compensation.
When PIF talk about long term projects and sustainable growth that applies to the manager’s work too.
Newcastle lost a game of football they largely dominated and should have won on chances created and missed. It happens.

Livramento is remarkably overrated. Usually good defensively but can’t really pass and cannot remember a single good cross he’s ever put into the box for us

- should have had a penalty

Easy solution , players sign contracts with a maximum of 50 games .. clubs rotate!
