Our much bigger problem for the last half-decade has been finding quality in the first place. Again; we spent more than Haaland‘s sale fee in three consecutive windows on three different target man 9s in three different attempts to replace him, and we got nowhere near the same quality for him. Ekitike was sold not once, but twice for around €30 million in this time. We literally could have bought Ekitike twice during this period and spent the same amount that we did on three strikers who aren‘t as good as Ekitike. Heck Eintracht even signed Marmoush on a free transfer in the same window that we signed Füllkrug. Is the problem becoming clear now?

Borussia Dortmund's record signing is still Ousmane Dembele at €35m. That was 10 years ago. They might claim they can't challenge Bayern, which is fair. But they need to start acting like the big club they are in the market. Surely BVB can spend more than €35m.

We constantly talk about growth, struggling high streets and boosting the economy, yet we voluntarily shut huge parts of it down during some of the busiest leisure hours of the week. Imagine the impact of extended Sunday trading: ✅More flexibility for working families ✅ More hours for staff who want them ✅ More spending in town and city centres ✅More footfall for restaurants, bars and transport ✅More tax revenue ✅Less pressure cramming everyone into Saturdays Being here supporting Aston Villa has highlighted just how different the mindset is elsewhere. Istanbul feels like a city that embraces activity, tourism and consumer spending rather than restricting it.
