Again. Knowing a large number of these chargers personally. These are 3kw and 7kw chargers at the max and absolutely useless for a car which will need to stay there for hrs for any useful charging. They are occupied by auto rikshaws, goods carriers and scooters mostly like they should be. I live inside this map and there are twenty five dots around me. But there are only 4 high speed DC charger locations ( 3 out of them functional at any time ) in that. Public EV charging ecosystem for cars is NOT enough or even barely there to start being appealing to the guy who does not have home charging. I have home charging. I obviously love the EV life.

Air conditioning is where ceiling fans once were: first treated as a luxury product for the rich, then quietly absorbed as a basic lifestyle necessity to survive an Indian summer. Today, ceiling fans are common even in modest working-class and lower-middle-class homes. Nobody seriously thinks of them as luxury consumption anymore. They are just part of Indian life. That is the transition we need to pull off with ACs, because we are already in dire territory. 57% of India’s districts, covering 76% of the population, are estimated to be at high to very high heat risk. In 2024, India reported over 40,000 suspected heatstroke cases. Hundreds died officially, and the real number is almost certainly worse. A recent tracker showed that 19 of the world’s 20 hottest cities that day were in India. A town called Banda in Uttar Pradesh has already touched 47.4 degrees Celsius, and it is not even May yet. Making ACs GST-exempt and removing import duties on AC components is the bare minimum. The government should actively subsidize efficient AC manufacturing and make cooling affordable for ordinary Indians. Access to cooling is no longer a lifestyle issue in India. It is a Right to Life and dignity issue under Article 21.
