Returning briefly to audiobook narration for a little experiment, with much much enthusiasm. Preorder!

Dear bookseller twitter: what would you recommend for a customer whose favorite books are "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See," "Hello, Hello," and "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" and finds other works of literature to be boring garbage

Now that I’m (gratefully) no longer allowed to make further tweaks to the manuscript, I’m ready to formally holler into the digital abyss: My first book, The Country of the Blind: A Memoir at the End of Sight, is coming out this summer from @penguinpress!! “Thread emoji”

@andevers We also use Wet Brush brand and wait for her hair to get damp. Mine (10) can mostly deal with tangles on her for two days after washing, then needs help or to be chucked into the tub with a bottle of conditioner.

@TortoiseBooks @BeckyLTuch I also have never had a fee and reluctantly close down to catch up sometimes. Delays happen especially with the deluge of subs lately but yipe.

@BeckyLTuch This is both why we don't charge a submission fee and why we had to reluctantly close submissions a few months ago.

@emilyhallnyc I think you have to read them both, sorry! Big Night in Chile is a narrative masterpiece word-for-word, and Nazi Lit is so incentive and fresh that thinking about it is visceral.

@SensualCMT I would love to! I’m glad there are subscribers, which makes a difference (I didn’t need $$ for more than booze and rent when I was younger) and agree the ASMR stuff is bunk.

@emmastraub This is an incredible remembrance, and a reminder to be the loudest possible champions for our kids. To those who haven't read him, Ghost Story is a great place to start. Much love.

so much pleasure and pride. That book, and our mutual understanding, meant that when he died, I didn't doubt for a second that he knew how grateful I was to be his, and vice versa. I leave you with the sportiest Big Pete ever looked. Now go read one of his books.

Ok this is going to be long and rambling but here goes. My father, Peter Straub, died on Sunday night. He was the fucking best, and here's why, with photos:
