They're never going to stop doing factionalism because that is ideologically all that the far left is about. Compromise is anathema, a blasphemy. The purpose of extremist movements is to be insurgents. They do not know how to create a coalition or appease and gain allies, their sole purpose is to create a populist proselytizing movement of people who absolutely convinced that the entire world is corrupt, and only they can build a utopia on a hill. They building isn't the point, and they intend in practice to never get around to it. The point is establishing that only they are morally upright, and that everyone else is not. This exercise does not end with elections, because elections are not the purpose of the movement. Elections are just a data point, and acting in such a way to force their intellectual inferiors to lose elections is just more proof of their movement's inherent righteousness, how they speak for the people. You can see this in practice in how they talk about Mamdani. Whether the man himself is doing anything is beside the point. What he does as mayor of NYC is completely immaterial. His purpose for the movement was defeating the rotten and evil forces aligned against him, and that is all that they needed him to do. The fact that they could brand his foes as capitalists or Zionists was really just icing on the cake. Because name calling is their most potent tool. Platner is much the same. Who the man is, what he stands for, and what he may do in the general election, or in office, if he prevails, is completely unimportant. The fact that he defeated Mills, who is old, an established politician, and female only makes the victory sweeter. It was so easy to cast her as a symbol of the elderly white elite they supposedly despise (just don't ask why like they Sanders or Steyer so much, else you want to be accused of wanting the poor to die), and the fact that they can dog whistle sexism? Why, that's just a coincidence. They're not populists, no sir. But they are, at base, an authoritarian ratfucking populist movement of malcontents that have no plans whatsoever to build anything at all. Their purpose is to destroy.
