Liam Delap looks like one of the best young finishers in recent football during training. His movement, finishing, and physicality are top level, but in matches he’s looked lost and out of place. The losses keep coming, and his confidence is clearly taking a hit. I’ve come to realise the problem isn’t him, it’s the coach and the way we play. He was banging in goals for his last team because they gave him service, played to his strengths, and had a system that suited his game. That direct, high-tempo football fed him balls in the box and let him use his pace and power properly. To unlock him, we need to change the tactics. Get him running behind defences, feed him early crosses, and stop asking him to drop deep or link play all the time. A system built around quick transitions and getting the ball into the penalty area fast would let him and the other attackers finally find their feet again. Delap still has everything you want in a number nine: hold-up play, finishing with both feet, aerial ability, and work rate. We haven’t seen the best of him yet. I still believe he can be Harry Kane’s true successor in English football if we give him the right platform.

Without clear, credible evidence of adultery, the petition may fail, while his conduct could weigh against him in the proceedings.
