I have said for years that HISA is an unfunded mandate from the federal government that forces racetracks, horsemen, horseplayers & taxpayers (depending on the state)to pay its ridiculously expensive fees. The federal government should fund HISA. @ChurchillDowns has taken a courageous stand that I hope leads to a better solution for the #HorseRacing industry than the current broken funding model.

I hate funerals but paid my respects to @RacewayFreehold this afternoon for its finale. First went there in Jan. 1986 when I was 19. It was cold, there was no grandstand, and I loved it. Many fun visits thereafter. The “Afternoon Delight” will be missed but never forgotten.

@barchyman Couldn't agree more. Devoured it a few months ago and found it to be an excellent strategic treatise on EV, both at the track and in life. Plus it's just a fun read. An unexpected gem that now has me thinking about playing some contests. @xmattmillerx

A Bettor Way of Thinking is an enjoyable book, with an author who is more than happy to engage/clarify/dive deeper with his readers to further broaden their understanding and increase their opportunities to do well - and not just in horse racing!

Fwiw per the Machado gaffe @keenelandracing yesterday, it was **not** unprecedented. A bugboy did precisely the same thing in the late 70s or early 80s in a 9-furlong race — big lead, then nailed on the wire. Initials were S.S., if I recall correctly. Anybody else remember?

OK...in reading further down threads it says this took place at Hoosier Park in Anderson, Indiana. Does anyone know if law enforcement or humane officials there have been contacted about it to start an investigation?
