2/2 The further we lock ourselves into the continued consumption of fossil fuel products through new assets - in this case through more ICE vehicles and methane boilers - the more UK consumers are exposed to global commodity markets, and in particular to the actions of OPEC+.

1/2 Investors need clear policy signals to invest in the new energy system that will be cheaper, cleaner and more secure than the legacy fossil fuel based system. Today’s announcement risks undermining investment in the enabling technologies critical to this transition.
