There really needs to be a reckoning of sorts with the figures we were told to read about and look at for inspiration for the past few decades.

This story is nuts. As someone who has studied Chavez in detail over the past decade there might be hints of megalomania but nothing like what this article states. Just bananas.

This whole “you wanna be white” thing is funny because its basis is that if non-white people do anything outside the expected, I.e. vote for Trump, not support other non-white people, be illiberal, etc., they are being “white” No, they are being themselves. Your worldview just can’t explain it

Mojtaba Khamenei's inaugural message doesn't even try to offer Iranians a better future. It DOES make sure to repeat the commitment to destruction of Israel. Who'd want a leader obsessed with another country's existence rather than his own people's well-being?

There are plenty of reasons to talk gloom-and-doom about higher ed, but sometimes you spend a couple of days at a small Christian college, and you come home reminded: Yes, these places are doing so much good, cultivating truth, goodness, beauty for all who have eyes to see.

“They started it” is an amazing claim when for the better part of five decades Iran has chanted “Death to Israel”, funded terror proxies, and, oh, yeah, that whole Hamas / 10/7 thing too.

The shift from title to subtitle here is wild. So not only does the regime not pose an “existential threat” to Israel, it doesn’t even pose a “significant danger”? Just entirely unserious analysis, for purely politicking purposes. Embarrassing for everyone involved.

If your child becomes a reader, about 80% of the education job is already done. That's my honest assessment after working in education for over thirty years. Everything else is secondary. Most parents think science education is important. Yes it is. But if you can't read the biology textbook, you're not going to learn biology. Reading is the meta-skill that enables all other skills. History requires reading. Science requires reading. Even math increasingly requires reading as it becomes more sophisticated. The child who reads voraciously will figure out everything else. The child who doesn't will struggle with everything.
