@mattyglesias Jews lie the way other people breathe. Thera a 0% chance your school taught you the entire Rosa Parks incident was a pre planned set up with a compliant Jewish media. Because any teacher that told the truth about that would have been fired.

I guess I went to better school because this is exactly what they taught me — it’s a brilliant case study in disciplined, strategic, non-violent action.

@RMBee So? I was 5 in 1995, and I saw tons of 80s movies growing up.

Brilliant guy. He's was one of the dudes who founded OPEN AI. But this inane take just tells me he's telling everyone he's never watched any movies before 1995 without telling anyone he's never watched movies before 1995. He was 9 in '95, so that makes perfect sense.
Tsarathustra@tsarnick

Nowhere is cultural acceleration more evident than in the movies. As Andrej Karpathy says, movies from before 1995 are slow, boring and naive.

@RyanStegman Better than splash pages that make you turn the comic on its side. That was everywhere in the 90s

A thread that nobody asked for: A lot of superhero comics today are doing something that I don't like with splash pages. A splash page should be a really big moment with ACTION and CHARACTER. What I'm seeing is a lot of "location splashes". Who is that for?

@gordonscherer2 @lilbuddymax Sure, but it's not super weird to teach kids about a guy being nailed to a cross, and putting depictions of it all over the place 🙄

There are some other obvious problems with the Guardian's methodology suggesting Israel's war is producing too much CO2 emissions. 1) They did not take into account all the CO2 emissions saved by all the people killed. The average Palestinian emits 0.7 tons of CO2 annually. With 23K dead + 7K presumed dead under rubble, that's 21,000 tons of CO2eq saved every year. Also, the average Israeli emits 8.7 tons of CO2 per year. With 1398 total Israelis killed, thats another savings of 12,162 tons CO2eq per year. The study simply failed to factor in the environmentally friendly effects of turning living people into dead people. 2) They did not take into account that because of the war there is no electricity in Gaza. In 2020, the per capita emissions from electricity generation in Palestine amounted to around 0.08 metric tons of carbon dioxide per capita. With a population of ~2 million, thats a savings of 26,301 tons of CO2 eq emissions in 60 days alone. 3) They did not take into account that because there are barely any roads left in Gaza, there's a lot less cars driving. With no one driving anymore, by my estimations that that's an additional 11,270 tons of CO2 eq saved in 60 days. 4) They did not take into account the sharp decrease in flights to and from Israel as a result of the war. A round trip economy class from America to Israel is estimated at 3 tons of CO2eq per person. 858,500 Americans tour Israel yearly and there has been a 90% decrease in tourism. That's an estimated 381,032 tons of CO2 saved in 60 days alone. As we can see, we have already saved over 400,000 tons of CO2eq emissions, which already makes up for the 281,315 CO2eq emissions, for a net total environmentally friendly effect of at least 118,685 CO2eq emissions. Also, many of these savings will continue to compound year by year as these dead people will no longer have any children of their own. The paper has not been peer reviewed yet, but reviewers should be mindful of these serious limitations of the study. The @guardian has claimed that "Emissions from Israel’s war in Gaza have ‘immense’ effect on climate catastrophe" This is obviously pure insanity, but for those curious to know exactly why, here's a debunk thread. Guardian article here: theguardian.com/world/2024/jan… Let's begin 🧵

@AviBittMD I was raised the same as you, and I don't know of anyone who thinks tunnels is a way to expand their property. On an unrelated note, I've always felt a quiet yearning to dig my own tunnel.I've been trying to convince my wife to let me start in the backyard, but she won't hear of it

To my radical ultra-orthodox Jewish friends: We'll never see eye to eye on a lot of things. I was raised radical ultra-orthodox and escaped the cult a long time ago, so I naturally expect a lot of disagreement. I get it. A plea to agree on one thing though: Tunneling is not a way to resolve a legal real estate dispute with each other. And you do not get to "expand" your legal property claim because you dug outward underground (lol). That's not how this works. Also, it's creepy AF. Stop that. Leave the tunneling to Hamas. Seriously I'm begging you guys. For the love God please just keep you're feet above the ground and settle it in court.
