@bobafeldman1 It is outrageous, and unfortunately we need the statehouse to take serious action on this! Building new homes in ten years will not bring down rents today, that’s why they should pass rent control statewide (or at least enact Mayor Wu’s proposal)

This is a joke. In the most optimistic case, building housing takes years, and does not directly bring most rent prices down. The way to prevent housing prices from rising? Cap the rent increases! Pass literally any housing home rule petition.

For decades, housing prices have been rising too fast. Fastest way to fix it? Build more. This year I signed the most ambitious housing bill in our state’s history. There are already 4000 new units underway. Big problems require big solutions.

@mikeleyba There is evidence that building houses brings down rents. Anyways, why should we trust individual towns, many of which have fought any multifamily housing (including any affordable or public housing) to implement rent control home rule petitions responsibly?
