This is a remarkable exchange between the USGA's John Spitzer and Dr. Sasho Mackenzie.
Spitzer is the USGA's head of equipment standards. Watching this, it's hard to come away thinking he understands what Sasho is saying.
Pair that with the recent news that Cameron Young is already playing a rolled-back ball in competition, and you can draw your own conclusions about the scientific rigor behind the USGA's approach to the rollback.
Video should start at 19:05. Watch through 23:36 for Sasho's priceless reaction.

@BryanTweed16@PinehurstResort The weather cooperate? It’s crazy this is the coldest Memorial Day I have seen and I have lived here 10 years. Last year was the second coldest and it was like 78°
Pinehurst (No. 10) is an expansive, insanely fun Tom Doak & Angela Moser design in the sand mines of the Sandhills. Extremely demanding Par-4s, beautiful Par-5s & great Par-3 variety. Quickly becoming the second best course at the resort, it’s an absolute thrill ride to play.
Pinehurst No. 7 is a demanding, visually appealing Rees Jones design that has more of an “Up North” feel compared to the other courses on premise. Requires accuracy off the tee and a high ball flight, which I had neither this afternoon. Greens were some of the best we’ve played.
To our PWPIPasatiempo partners just wow! Could not have been better! I truly appreciate and value our partnership and friendship.
Gents were bombing the Callaway Quantum drivers and woods, making some great putts with their Odyssey Ai-Dual putters. And of course those LogoUP balls baby!
PRG the PGAPappas x Pasatiempo headcovers are absolute perfection and the gents and head pro all love them.
The Turtleson polos with PGAPappas logo were phenomenal. In the post event Round Table (video soon) the gents raved about em.
To all of you my biggest possible thank you and appreciation for making Play With Pete Invitational: Pasatiempo even more special. 💯👍
These are the golf gloves my son wears. Two gloves make long range sessions way easier on his hands while learning.
Meanwhile grown men are rawdogging cord grips through a large bucket and acting surprised their hands look like they lost a fight with a cheese grater.
Joe Wants to Know, have you ever played a course that they have used for the @PGAChampionship ? If so what course was it, if you played more than one which was your favorite to date? For me it would be either @kiawahresort or Wannamoisett
My boys decided to call me out and wanted to play straight up. So we played a 2 day tournament @TalamoreResort for the Maddalena Masters. I won by 18. The Purple Jacket is mine!
@GolfTravelerJoe For me it is the people over the places. If I get to play with my favorite people then I am right where I want to be. If I get an admit course with my favorite people even better
Ya know I see a lot, I mean a lot of posts across social media from people who want to play courses like Shinnecock, Brookline and even Augusta and don’t get me wrong playing those courses would be amazing to play obviously, but for me I like keeping my list realistic but still amazing places like Pasatiempo, Royal Dornoch and Portmarnock.
