When visibility lives in one system, control in another, and execution somewhere else, infrastructure doesn't just slow down. It becomes a liability. Most enterprises managing hybrid infrastructure are dealing with exactly this: tool sprawl that degrades observability, siloed workflows that delay response, and policies that drift as complexity outpaces coordination. Tata Communications ThreadSpan™ is built to change how hybrid infrastructure functions. It creates a single intelligent layer that continuously discovers, correlates, and contextualises infrastructure data across domains, connecting systems, enforcing policies, and enabling AI-assisted #automation so teams move from insight to execution without friction. Learn more about how Tata Communications ThreadSpan™ turns intelligence into action: okt.to/HzCKRm #DigitalFabric #ThreadSpan #UnifiedInfrastructure

The best broadcasts are invisible. No buffering. No artefact. No frozen frames at the moment a record breaks. At the @WorldAthletics Indoor Championships, Tata Communications handled global distribution for selected rights holders alongside our Host Broadcasting production partnership with HBS, powered by the Tata Communications MIMiC platform, a resilient global fibre network, and internet infrastructure built for moments that don’t wait. Indoor athletics moves fast. Events overlap. Feeds switch mid-sequence. So, a seamless transition in one geography has to land flawlessly everywhere, simultaneously. That level of precision is engineered long before the starting gun. Planned, tested, and refined weeks in advance. Well, the wokes at @ndtv won’t tell you that land where the airport is, originally belonged to Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple and was donated by the Travancore Royal Family with the condition that it MUST close for the deity's procession twice a year! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
NDTV@ndtv

📍Keralam | #InPics: Flight services from the international airport were suspended for about five hours on Thursday afternoon to make way for the holy 'Painkuni Arattu' of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple The airport has been pausing operations and rescheduling flights twice every year for decades to enable the bi-annual centuries-old ceremonial procession of the shrine to pass through the runway

NASA pays $100M for Microsoft 365 licensing across the agency. They standardized every system on Microsoft. They put Microsoft Surfaces on the Orion spacecraft as the crew's personal computing devices. And the first technical crisis of humanity's return to the Moon was Reid Wiseman radioing Houston to say he has two Microsoft Outlooks and neither one works. Mission Control's response? "With your go, we can remote in and take a look." The same exact workflow your company's IT helpdesk uses when you submit a ticket on a Monday morning. Except the user is traveling at 4,275 mph, 30,000 miles from Earth, and the Wi-Fi situation is considerably worse. This spacecraft survived hydrogen leaks, helium leaks, a faulty heat shield, and a broken toilet. Outlook broke anyway. The toilet actually got fixed faster. The real story here is that Microsoft has achieved something no other software company in history can claim: a support ticket from lunar transit. Their enterprise sales team should frame this. "Battle-tested in space" is a positioning statement most B2B companies would mass murder for, and Microsoft accidentally earned it because Outlook crashes everywhere, including orbit. Outlook remains the only software in human history that performs identically whether you're in a cubicle in Redmond or aboard a spacecraft bound for the Moon. Universally, reliably broken. And we keep buying it anyway.

Oracle fired 12,000 of its Indian workforce and is expected to sack more. Another reminder of how fragile stability is in the private sector. One secures employment, income begins to flow, long-term plans take shape, home, car, loans, EMIs. And then, a single decision by the corporate to “rationalize” or “downsize,” and everything collapses overnight. Unless you quickly re-enter the job market, fixed liabilities don’t pause; they compound stress and can upend an otherwise steady life. While you earn, you must pay taxes. The moment you lose your job, you’re on your own. In fact, you even have to pay tax on the severance also. Maybe it’s time to introduce reforms, such as mandating severance pay ranging from three months to one year based on an employee’s tenure, as is the norm in the West; allowing EMI pauses for a 3-6 months; and providing a time-bound monthly allowance from the govt for involuntary job losses. If Ladla/Ladlis can get free money, free ration, free water, and electricity, without paying any income tax, why not support a worker who has been paying taxes and contributing?

Congratulations to @AshwiniBhide as the BMC Commissioner. After T. Chandrashekhar in Thane & RC Sinha in Mumbai who served in the 1990's/2000's - she is the only bureaucrat with a top record in execution. May she overcome the political-contractor nexus and get the job done.

People are getting more and more creative. Here is a set of desi puns.. 1. My watch is stuck between 2 and 2:30; it is a do or dhai situation. 2. Vishwanathan Anand gets tensed when the waiter asks, 'Check de doon'. 3. A potato was grilled by cops; after two hours of torture, it gave in, 'Main Batata hun, main Batata hun...' 4. A well-executed theft without any fingerprints is a stainless steal. 5. Friends pay food bills on a de-tu-de basis 6. Rahul Dravid's wristwatch is technically a wall clock. 7. Toll Booths are nothing but Bill Gates 8. The way to the cemetery, 'Go straight and take the last rite.' 9. The salaried class feel that the changing nature of taxes is too T.D.S.. 😊😊😊

Recently my son asked me why he needs to do mental math when calculators exist. I told him if he doesn't, he will make irrational decisions throughout his life. Let me explain. Say you see two packs of snacks. A 500g pack for ₹100, and a 200g pack for ₹45. Which one should you buy? The math is not at all hard, but people who are scared of mental math will not do it. This is not such an important decision that you pull out a calculator for it. So you make the decision on vibes - say ₹100 "looks too high", or that the smaller pack costs "less than half of the biggest one" or some such. The problem isn't that you made a poor decision on snacks. It is that if you do this repeatedly, you train your mind to make decisions on vibes. Over time your reasoning muscle atrophies - so you start relying even more on vibes. Before you know it, you are taking even big decisions on vibes. Should I rent or buy a house? Let's decide based on "EMI affordability", not rental yield. Should I invest in this IPO? I have heard of the company's brand so I'm all in. It isn't only financial or quantitative decisions either - in my mind the math muscle and the logic muscle are closely correlated, so a decline in one certainly affects the other. Like the Arab who let the camel's nose inside the tent, fear of math is the first step towards thoughtlessness, and needs to be nipped in the bud. Intellectual laziness starts with snack prices.

On 23 March, two tunnel boring machines — each weighing over 2,000 tonnes, each wider than a four-lane highway — were unloaded at Mumbai's JNPT port. They were meant to arrive in October 2024. This thread, and the accompanying story, is about what held them up. 📷
