@Vanni2Smoove3 @Viciousl2l @nianello6 @tqcpfp The “Mota” is actually a simulation sample that removed the SAHG and Eurasian component out of the eth_mota sample. Its the bulk ancestry shared by nilotes and mota and it works way better than the Dinka proxy

Over the last 15 years or so, we've largely unraveled the population history of Europe. Over the next 15, we're going to figure out Africa, starting w/a very deep and persistent split between Sub Saharan and North Africa. The Sahara really was a barrier.

@milkshakesurfer @the_militarist For example, Eurasian variation doesn’t explain much about West African genetics, so a PCA built on Eurasians would be very uninformative about a West African if you projected one onto that PCA. This also applies to unique ancient groups with no modern representation (ie TKK) FIN

@milkshakesurfer @the_militarist Sorry, wrong link. Meant to link my reply to that post:
Daniel Tabin@DanTabin

@PhilistiaForeva This is almost surely not real. G25 (and its downstream methods) are based on a PCA which does not capture the variation found within Ranis / Zlaty Kun. These super early Eurasians seem to be outgroups to every Eurasian group that came after (including modern groups) 1/n

@milkshakesurfer @the_militarist Sure, here is a thread about very ancient samples and G25. The same applies to distinct groups with few descendants (ie TKK) Given what we know about TKK, one might assume they’d end up in some vague central position with some attraction to North Africans and Sahelians in G25

A few women from the groups most genetically similar to the Yamnaya Proto-Indo-Europeans - the Aryans. Mordovian (Moksha); Russian; Lezgin.

@nianello6 @kaido544 @Vanni2Smoove3 @Viciousl2l @tqcpfp The SSA for the average Somali is in the 50%’s with not much difference when you use the right SSA and non-SSA ancestry. Some studies have wrongly used eth_mota as the African proxy instead of Dinka which inflated the SSA. Also some samples like somali_kenyan is admixed

@kaido544 @milkshakesurfer @Vanni2Smoove3 @Viciousl2l @tqcpfp I think you're both right. I've seen various estimates for Somali admix ranging from ~50% to ~63% SSA, depending on samples. So, definitely highly admixed, but still majority SSA on average and less Eurasian shifted than some other Horner groups like Amharas.

@kaido544 @Vanni2Smoove3 @Viciousl2l @nianello6 @tqcpfp Yes I know but the SSA % is in the 50’s rather than 60% is what I’m saying. Plus there isn’t a pure AEA sample available yet so we don’t know for sure what the real breakdown is atm we’re just going with the closest proxy available

@DanTabin @the_militarist Can u link a thread when you talk more about it? I’m very interested in learn about the flaws PCA’s like G25 compared to other tools when evaluating the ancestry of populations.

@paulsaladinomd I appreciate that you promote the health benefits of consuming organ meats but are you aware of how fermenting veggies kill the antinutrients? Important vitamins like K2 are found in fermented foods like natto and sauerkraut.

The esteemed Genomics platform, Anthrogenica, is set to close its doors, but we're thrilled to launch the Anthrogenica Archive. This public vault holds every thread available up to July 27th, 2023. With user-friendly features like full-text search, distinct quote tags, and streamlined table design, navigating the archive is a breeze. We pledge to keep this resource free indefinitely, preserving the community's valuable discussions for researchers, enthusiasts, and future generations. While the Archive is read-only, we invite members to continue their discussions on Genomics, Anthropology, and related subjects in our forums, upholding the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that Anthrogenica was known for. genoplot.com/discussions/ca… #genomics #genetics #anthropology #anthrogenica

I am sad to hear of the imminent demise of the Anthrogenica forum. I visited it once in a while but it was a place where the excitement about genetic discoveries was palpable. Apparently the burden of GDPR compliance was too much for the team that kept it running.
