@FischerKing64 It’s EU regulations. EU passed a “right to repair” law which forced Apple into becoming a cookie-cutter laptop with plug and play components. Meaning nothing is proprietary anymore. Once again big government strikes again.

Apple selling cheap laptops means it’s giving up on being an aspirational brand. Means it’s run out of ideas - which has been obvious for a while with the goggles and the thicker phones and iPads. It’s like if Mercedes entered the compact truck market.

@Cernovich Tucker is going to run for the Republican side right? Or is he going to Ross Perot it? I’m living in a time that both the GOo(p) and the Dems have self immolated. Trust is gone I will be surprised if there even will be another election. There was a prediction on # of president

AIPAC had to spent a ton of money in Democratic primaries using cut out groups / shells with different names, and it still wasn’t a great night. The 2028 Democrat candidate for POTUS will be overtly anti-Israel.

@the_P_God How did he suppress the need for facial surgery like the rest of his friends? He is simultaneously a closet gay yet exemplified all the traits of a heterosexual

It's difficult to explain to people who are not Nicolas Cage fans that he is simultaneously one of the best and worst actors living today.

@Zants @sircalebhammer My beef is that ALL public buildings should have fruit trees. It’s literally illegal in every state and it oisses me off. No reason not to have fruit bushes or fruit trees in every public property/gov building

I understand that new neighborhoods will not be mature enough to have wonderful canopy trees, duh. But why are they (basically) not planting any trees at all? I think I see four or five baby trees? A new neighborhood rarely looks good, but ones like this will NEVER look good.

@sircalebhammer Maybe because these are just singular random neighborhoods that aren’t necessarily representative of every neighborhood that exists. Also, the top photo has a wider field of view which isn’t helping. Looks like street view versus a nicely composed shot in image 2

Ancient Roman cuisine used the herb silphium so heavily that it went extinct by the 1st century AD Half the recipes in the oldest surviving cookbook call for it The monks who copied that book by hand in 900 AD had never tasted it They preserved it anyway The ingredient is gone But Apicius' recipes survived

I did not. Thanks for sharing this. What a great subject to capture in the infancy of photography. Given that the colloidal process wasn't invented until the latter 1850s, and that Louis Daguerre invented the daguerreotype in 1839, I assume this is a daguerreotype. Given the subject of the photograph, I wonder if this wasn't taken by Daguerre himself.

Did you know the Duke of Wellington lived long enough to be photographed? This image, taken in 1844, captures Arthur Wellesley, the hero of Waterloo, in one of the earliest photographs ever taken.

I posted this reply as a half-joke, but I asked Grok to list James Cameron's movies in reverse order of their cost, and it mirrors how I would rank them from best to worst. 1. The Terminator (1984) — ~$6.4–7 million. 2. Aliens (1986) — ~$18–25 million. 3. The Abyss (1989) — ~$70 million. 4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) — ~$94–100 mil. 5. True Lies (1994) — ~$100–120 million. 6. Titanic (1997) — ~$200 million. 7. Avatar (2009) — ~$237–250 million. 8. Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) — ~$350–460 mil. 9. Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) — ~$350–400 million+.

@TrungTPhan With James Cameron, the less money spent, the better the movie. Terminator is still vastly superior to Avatar.

When my daughters were little, they each got a set of 30 stick-on earrings. One daughter saved hers for special occasions and ended up not even using them all before she outgrew them. The other daughter’s were gone in a month. 😂 I joked then that I knew which one of them would someday use their fine china.

Grew up in a “if you love it, use it up” family. Husband grew up in a “if you love it, rarely use it so it lasts forever” family. Trying to find that healthy, middle of the road without either of us losing our minds is not for the faint of heart.
