“Retired on Friday at age 57 so I will no longer be busy at work like my shirt says and my wife finishes up in 6 weeks too. We are Australian and were going to wait until we turned 60 so we can access our superannuation but we have lost three parents in the last 12 months and my father who is still alive has dementia. So it’s been a bit of a wake up call for us as you just don’t know what’s coming down the road. We are both very fit and healthy, our two daughters are in their 20s and independent and we have enough money to get us through until we can access our super. So we thought “What are we waiting for?” and decided to take the plunge and quit our jobs and take back control of our time. Our plan is to head to Central or South America and find a quiet little surf town where we can rent for 3-6 months and surf every day, learn to speak Spanish fluently and immerse ourselves in the local culture. We spent 6 months in Latin America as backpackers in 1996 so it will be interesting to re-experience it 30 years later with a different focus. We plan to do a trip (or trips) like this every year, doing the more physically challenging trips in the early years while we can and scaling things back as we get older. Thanks to all of those who have shared their stories on this forum and inspired us.”

@miss_traceydav @BradfemlyWalsh That's incorrect, mine were impacted and NHS just sedated me... Was awake the whole time - obviously out of it though and no recollection after
English

@BradfemlyWalsh If they impacted you do need to be knocked out. I know this as I was referred to have mine out but I resisted it (major white coat syndrome!). Some can be removed with local it but not all. I got myself off the list though as proved it wasn’t necessary

I don't get the American attitude towards dentistry. I had to have two wisdom teeth removed on the NHS during Lockdown when I was 48 and I just had a bit of local anaesthetic in my lower jaw and it was done within 15 mins. Glad this guy is okay, though.
bishop@_swingpool_
do NOT wait till you’re 23 to get your wisdom teeth pulled 💔

This is really disappointing, especially for such an important petition...
It's only got 20,140 signatures...
It needs 100,000 signatures before the deadline: 8th March 2026
Please sign and share...

UsualIy I can keep my anger at the blatant theft of womanhood at a low simmer, but this has me boiling. @CambridgeWords not only changed the definition of female to include men (adding a sentence doing just that for that extra slap in the face), making it inaccurate into the bargain; they also changed their first example sentence for “feminine” to apply that characteristic to a man.
This is deliberate, and I’m sick and fvcking tired of it.

@somekindofsin It's so obvious as a society we do not want to acknowledge how much of an issue men are, that they are making these decisions and actions making them fully culpable, it's not a lapse

That salary range for a “senior” job in London. Yikes.

@therealmissjo Stupid they can't link a website to pay... Everything needs an app these days and those app track your phone use 😤😤

I have an elderly friend who is in her 80s.
She lives in Cornwall.
Mary is very switched on but she struggles with new technology a bit - especially parking apps.
All she wants to do is put her car in a space for a couple of hours and pay.
She does not want to sign up for a new app.
She does not want to verify her device.
She does not want to save her credit card information.
She does not want to figure out why the app thinks she is in Devon and cannot geolocate the car park she is standing in.
She wants to take a few coins and put them in a machine and do her shopping/meet her friends. Now, she finds excuses not to meet friends or shop because she is so worried about the parking situation.
It is a disgrace that parking has become so discriminatory and this is just the start. When Digital ID is introduced, her whole world will feel like this.

@dom_lucre This is in Sydney, Australia, the seat flips both ways, where's the property damage?
English

🔥🚨BREAKING: These Black teenagers are going viral for causing a disruption on a subway, they can be seen behaving like animals as they play on top of seats in a way that causes property damage.
They are also laughing with a total disregard for all of the other citizens on the bus n*ggas will be n*ggas.

@BradBattinMP I couldn't believe the state of the roads coming back after living o/s
English

Despite charging motorcyclists more than $80 a year in a safety levy, Labor doesn't have the money to fix our crumbling roads.
Roads made unsafe by potholes pose potentially fatal risks for motorcyclists.
Only the Liberals and Nationals will put road safety first, end the waste, and restore road maintenance funding.

@Jenny_1884 Is the issue the system that allows the abuse? If so called abuse is even being done...

@lfcntha @Crowe_JE @MrMnd73 @Erc3331 @PaddyMcD123 @BritainisCool @TriorityN It's twitter 🙃 no need to take it so seriously no one got hurt 😉

@millennialvoic3 @Crowe_JE @MrMnd73 @Erc3331 @PaddyMcD123 @BritainisCool @TriorityN Semantics? The statement made was factually incorrect

If you don't think it's democratic that 33.7% of votes should give a party nearly 64% of the seats in Parliament, then please, sign and share as much as you can. Currently, your vote can be wasted, it can be ignored. Get your voice heard. Equality for all. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7280…
English

@lfcntha @Crowe_JE @MrMnd73 @Erc3331 @PaddyMcD123 @BritainisCool @TriorityN Semantics, having them consider it for debate in parliament from signing a petition even if not guaranteed is better than doing nothing and them turning a blind eye to what's happening.

@RealDasNasty @kurdish11495 Actually Irish travellers who are mostly catholic pull girls out of school very young - white skinned. Oppression against women is not tied with the colour of skin.
thesun.co.uk/fabulous/29326…
English

@kurdish11495 Why don't you name the only religion that facilitates this oppression towards women ?
Go ahead, say it
I know you won't since you're too pussy and would just rather blame it on "men" instead of offending the ones responsible 🤣

Don‘t ever tell me misogyny and misandry are equal again. No country has ever banned men from getting an education.

@GhostDorkness @andie1105 @RobbyRedBaron @MikeSouthWestUK @socialpanhandle What an outrageously misogynistic surmise!?
English

@andie1105 @RobbyRedBaron @MikeSouthWestUK @socialpanhandle I doubt he's happy.
But if you ACTUALLY cared about safety of OTHER women on the public transits, you wouldn't be so unwilling to tell the truth.
This is why women shouldn't be allowed in any politics or government. More concerned about their own appearance than the truth.

On Friday, I was being stared at by a man on a train from Stevenage to London Bridge. At London Bridge, he came very close to me asking me to talk to him and calling me a racist for not doing so. I approached station staff and he walked away.
When I got on the tube to Waterloo, he saw me and ran to get in my carriage where he continued to stare at me, then followed me, saying the same things again but asking me if I wanted to see his dick.
At Waterloo, I ran to 2 police officers who spoke to him but he ran away. They saw me onto my train home.
I’m a 58 year old woman and I’m not generally afraid but this is the second time in a month, something like this has happened to me on a train near London.
Be careful out there ladies. It really isn’t safe for us to be alone.

@therealmissjo UK doctors can't even come back and work
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
English

What is going on in the NHS?
The Times did a quick review of doctors and their record overseas.
They found 22 doctors who had had their licenses removed overseas were accepted by and working for the NHS.
Take, Sujan Thyagaraj who lost his licence in New Mexico in 2019. He prescribed strong opiates to a patient and then sexually abused her in his office. He tried to get a licence in various States in the UK but ended up in the UK where the NHS were delighted to give him one, without checks.
