I’ve created @milletetrial as a focused space to follow the disappearance of Maya Millete and the murder case against her husband, Larry Millete. Maya “May” Millete, a 39-year-old mom of three and Navy civilian worker, vanished from Chula Vista, CA on Jan 7, 2021. She came home from work, entered her home, and was never seen again. Her body has never been found. Maya’s husband Larry was arrested in late 2021 and his trial is set for May 2026. 🚨 The manner of death of #SandraBirchmore, who was found dead in her Canton, Massachusetts, apartment, has been changed from suicide to "undetermined." The original death certificate listed Sandra's cause of death as asphyxia by hanging & the manner of death as suicide. Federal prosecutors allege former @StoughtonPD Det. #MatthewFarwell killed Birchmore, 23, in her apartment in 2021 & staged her death to look like a suicide because he was afraid she would reveal details of their sexual relationship and alleged sexual abuse.

One note from Larry Millete hearings this week is that everyone pronounces the name Millete differently. Even the same person will say it differently. I feel validated. I get a lot of comments that “I’m doin it wrong.” #mayamillete

I took legit notes but also observational, more shallow notes today at Larry Millete’s hearing. For example, how the attorneys reacted to things being said. Is that something anyone would be interested in reading? #mayamillete #trials #notesonatrial

Notes on Larry Millete’s pre trial hearing today ⚖️ 1. More motions in limine -some motions took hours due to how extensive the motion was. -defense exclusions were argued for most of the time -without counting, many of the requests (things the defense DOES NOT want introduced in trial) were granted, many were also denied, and many were not objected to by the prosecution at all -some of these exclusions were reserved to be renewed during trial and the judge seemed very willing to add hearings for those items if necessary -judge listens very closely to all parties and he KNOWS this case like the back of his hand 2. Motion to recuse ENTIRE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE (and dismiss case) -denied -it was so intense and well-fought (especially defense arguments) -defense, prosecution and attorney general argued their positions -attorney general found there was no misconduct and said the motion should NOT be granted -ultimately the largest take away was the judge’s finding on record that he found no misconduct by ADA Christie Bowles -Defense says it’s not personal, but they’re just zealously defending their client -Prosecution clearly took it personally and iterated that there was no misconduct many, many times #mayamillete #trial

Court is done for the day and will resume motions in limine Monday morning at “9:30ish”

The District Attorney’s office will Not be recused from Larry Millete trial, per ruling from Judge just now. Arguments from DA, CA attorney general and defense were passionate, interesting, and heated. #mayamillete

I’m back today for prelim hearings at San Diego Superior Court for Larry Millete, who is on trial for the disappearance of his wife, Maya Millete. I am going to be extremely careful with what I share, but I WILL be sharing and taking copious amounts of notes on the stuff I can’t share. Why can’t I fully share everything from these public hearings? A judge afraid of a circus

NEW: Drone strike reported in San Diego, California, on a Boeing 737 jumbo jet operated by United Airlines. According to officials, the drone hit the plane at about 3000 feet as it was coming in for a landing from San Francisco. "United Flight 1980 reported a possible drone strike just prior to arriving in San Diego," United Airlines said. "The flight landed safely, and customers deplaned normally at the gate. Our maintenance team found no damage after thoroughly inspecting the aircraft." According to the pilot, the drone was small, red, and shiny.
