August 5th 1983 - David Crosby, reported to have slept through most of his trial, was sentenced to eight years in prison for drug and firearms possession. He was paroled in 1986. Crosby was arrested in a Dallas nightclub in April 1982 for possessing a .45-caliber handgun and freebasing cocaine. This marks the 2nd year in a row where Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Women’s team was absolutely bullied and punked in a National Championship game. They literally never left the team hotel. UCLA was competing against ghosts! They had no heart, no energy, no effort, no FIGHT, no desire, no hunger, and no game plan. Today’s game was a massive failure on both the entire coaching staff, and the players. There is nothing wrong with losing, but to come out in the biggest game of the year, sleepwalking in back-to-back years…….is unacceptable. South Carolina’s players got knocked around, shoved down, out-muscled, and absolutely DOMINATED today, just as they did in the Championship game LAST year! Tessa Johnson was the ONLY player on the entire roster who had the HEART to even TRY to compete today! Sad to see South Carolina go out like this. Dawn Staley did not even bother with calling timeouts because she had no game plan to combat this DOMINANCE from UCLA!
