Today I learned that people get more carsick in EVs If you have felt like want to vomit riding in a Tesla or BYD and thought you were imagining it, you are not. Electric vehicles cause more frequent and more severe motion sickness than petrol cars. A study back in 2024 found symptoms were 10 to 30 percent more intense. Back-seat passengers suffer the most. Three reasons. No engine sound. Your brain has been trained to associate engine revving with acceleration. EVs are silent. Your brain gets no warning of the motion about to hit. Instant torque. Electric motors deliver maximum torque immediately. Petrol engines build up gradually. An EV accelerating from a traffic light reaches highway speed way quicker. Regenerative braking. The main culprit. When the driver lifts off the accelerator, the motor reverses into a generator to recapture energy. The deceleration this creates happens at roughly 0.2 Hz, which is almost exactly the frequency that triggers motion sickness. One-pedal driving makes it worse. In a petrol car you coast between acceleration and braking. In an EV you are constantly accelerating or decelerating. That forward-back rhythm never existed in petrol cars before. Manufacturers have noticed. Tesla, BYD, and MG let you reduce regen braking. Xiaomi's YU7 introduced a dedicated motion sickness mode. Mercedes has simulated V8 engine sounds so the audio cues reduce motion sickness. If you get sick in an EV, three practical moves. Reduce regen braking in settings. Sit in the front. Look far ahead, not at your phone. Have you noticed this while sitting in an EV?

Too much noise coming from Malaysia about the US-Indonesia MDCP maybe some of them don’t know what FDPA is or didn’t even bother reading the joint statement before jumping straight to a stupid conclusion

Malaysia's relationship with the United States has proven it's worth on multiple occasions. It is absolutely ridiculous to claim that Malaysia might be "wiped out" because we are a muslim majority country.

One day, Malaysia and other SEA might get attacked by the US and their allies (especially MY and IND because we're Muslim majority countries and is more likely to be wiped out) and it's probably gonna be because of them (or SG)

Yup, Singapore's position weakens when its big brother retreats from the region. Should Malaysia and Indonesia collaborate to create a toll in Straits of Malacca? Possibly also channel traffic from the straits directly to South China Sea via ECRL rail bypassing Singapore? Note: Like Strait of Hormuz, the Straits of Malacca is not international waters. Even though it's not international waters, the strait is governed by a special legal concept under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) called Transit Passage allowing commercial and military ships to pass. But if you have not realized, the post-WW2 order is being dismantled. Does anyone find the UN relevant anymore? Whatever has been signed is being torn apart. Great Reset as the orange man calls it and the reset doesn't favor small island state with no resources.
Arnaud Bertrand@RnaudBertrand

I suspect the real reason for Singapore's opposition to a toll on Hormuz is not some high-minded devotion to international law, but because if it's set as a precedent and a toll were to exist on the Strait of Malacca, it would basically kill their current business model. See, geographically speaking, Malacca runs primarily between Malaysia and Indonesia - Singapore only controls a small stretch at the southeastern exit. Yet currently they capture most of the strait's commercial value through port services, bunkering, and transshipment: it's basically like them having the best "service station" on the world's most popular free highway. What the Hormuz precedent - if established - is all about is the revenge of geography: power given back to the countries that own the road, as opposed to those with the best rest-stop. Fantastic news for Malaysia and Indonesia (which is partly why you're seeing key Malaysian political figures, like Nurul Izzah Anwar, issue a highly unusual rebuke of Singapore over Balakrishnan’s remarks: x.com/amerhadiazmi/s…), but a big threat to a city-state whose entire economy is built on being the best service provider on what's largely someone else's waterway.

Menteri dah tawarkan BYD buka kilang battery charger dengan battery dekat Malaysia selain daripada kilang CKD. BYD tak setuju. Benda ni aku tak patut cerita tapi engkau siang malam meroyan pasal Jo Ghani. Apa lagi? BYD taknak local content, BYD taknak harga lantai, BYD taknak kuota eksport tapi BYD nak insentif cukai. Nak insentif dan "subsidi" macam Kerajaan China bagi dekat dia bertahun-tahun tapi kita tak boleh lindung industri automotif tempatan? US, EU, Japan, Korea semua lindung sektor automotif diorang berpuluh-puluh tahun even sampai sekarang. Mamat ni nak Malaysia kangkang luas-luas bagi masuk semua murah-murah. Jangan delete tweet macam @luciusmaximus pulak nanti.

🚨 Do you understand what Oracle just did.. they fired 30,000 people.. via 6 AM email.. while reporting a 95% increase in net income last quarter.. Oracle isn't a struggling company .. Oracle made MORE money than ever.. and still fired 30,000 people because they're spending $156 billion on AI data centres instead.. and Larry Ellison.. the guy who just fired 30,000 families.. is worth $200 billion.. the 3rd richest person on earth.. he owns an entire Hawaiian island.. Lanai.. 98% of it.. bought it for $300 million like it was a vacation home.. this is the same playbook every single time.. IBM fired 7,800 and replaced them with AI in 2023.. Amazon cut 27,000 the same year while reporting record revenue.. Atlassian cut thousands while profits climbed.. Google laid off 12,000 while sitting on $100 billion in cash.. they told you to learn to code.. you learned to code.. they told you to upskill.. you upskilled.. and then they replaced you with the thing you helped build and sent the termination letter before you woke up.. the company made record profits and decided the reward for that was firing the people who made it happen.
