In Japan, the oil company ENEOS reportedly succeeded for the first time in producing synthetic fuel from just CO₂ in the air and water, without using petroleum. They generate hydrogen using renewable energy and combine it with CO₂ to create fuel, and have even completed real vehicle driving tests. It is gaining attention as a carbon-neutral fuel that can be used in existing internal combustion engines without modification.

@captsingh 20% LNG frozen behind Hormuz. Qatar's 17% capacity gone for years. This is supply chain concentration risk. How do Asian economies secure energy when critical chokepoints close? #SupplyChainRisk

🇦🇸 Asia LNG imports drop 8.6% in March—largest fall since 2022. China, India imports down 20% each. Pakistan down 70% . 20% of global LNG frozen behind Hormuz. Qatar's Ras Laffan: 17% capacity gone for years . Prices up 143%. Bangladesh, India, Japan switching to coal. Pakistan on four-day week . The gas is gone. The coal is back. ⚓

False equivalence. The 70s embargo allowed negotiation. A closed strait permits none. Your Asia-Europe container schedules face cascading voids. Supply chain diversification? Impossible against geography.
Alicia GarciaHerrero 艾西亞@Aligarciaherrer

Views for @BBC News: "While 1970s #oil shocks sent prices sky high, they only cut global supply by 5-7%. In contrast, the current crisis affects 20% of the world's supplies, dwarfing the 1970s shock. Today's #Iran war crisis can end up being a bigger shock if the situation does not improve soon. It was also a crisis of gas supply and other refined products." bbc.com/news/articles/…

@AndersSjastad You can laugh at the dance moves, but blocking Hormuz paralyzes Asia-Europe container trade. 30% of global oil transits there. Supply chain risk is not choreography.

@asiatimesonline Maritime denial upends Asia-Europe container flows. When naval projection falters, who secures Hormuz? Shippers modeling $billion disruptions from contested chokepoints know: trade follows guns.

UAE sovereign wealth: $2.49T, 100x annual budget, century-long tax-free runway. I'm watching British capital flee London's post-Brexit chaos for exactly this institutional certainty. Supply chains span decades; you need jurisdictions where fiscal policy survives governments.

🚨 Do you understand what's happening right now between Iran and the UAE.. Iran just publicly warned — through state media — that it could strike Fujairah.. Fujairah is not some random port.. > it's the UAE's oil export terminal on the Gulf of Oman > it connects to a pipeline that carries 1,800,000 barrels per day from Abu Dhabi > it exists for ONE reason — to bypass the Strait of Hormuz the UAE built this entire system as a hedge against Iran blocking Hormuz.. their whole energy independence strategy depends on Fujairah being untouchable.. Iran just told them it's very much touchable.. this isn't a military threat.. this is an economic one.. aimed directly at the foundation of UAE oil exports.. if you're not following me you're finding out about this 48 hours late from someone who read my post..

A relatively normal 2026 injection year will take European storage to 80% utilization by Nov. 1. Without Qatar #LNG, it'll be difficult but not impossible to achieve. Coal burning & renewable additions in Asia/Europe will play a key role, as will French nuclear. @ColumbiaUEnergy

Important question ahead. Will Europe be willing to pay higher prices to inject fuel this summer or adjust its injection targets. The lower the injection rate the more vulnerable to spot price next winter
Ira Joseph@ira_joseph

Take note high European spot prices did not scare away demand in March. For Q2/Q3, the question will be if Europe is willing to pay as much to inject gas as it does to consume it. Very much a "pay a lot more now or potentially an obscene amount later" situation. @ColumbiaUEnergy
