Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership
📽 ICYMI - We visited @WaltonYP a month after the violent disorder on County Road to hear how the young people feel about the riots and to find out how they are helping with the recovery effort. Early intervention is vital to preventing serious violence and our YES Fund is giving young people across Merseyside, living in some of our most deprived areas, access to new & safe opportunities. 👏

Thank you to @TorusFdnMartynJ for delivering 2 great cooking session this week to our Westy coffee morning and the healthy neighbours group! One of my social prescribing ladies told me “this is the first time I’ve ever cooked a meal from scratch, I usually use frozen items”

"Perfection is impossible. In the 1,526 singles matches I played in my career, I won almost 80% of those matches. But what percentage of points did I win? 54% In other words, even top ranked tennis players win barely more than half the points they play. When you lose ever second point on average, you learn not to dwell on every shot. You teach yourself to think: 'Okay, I double faulted...it's only a point.' 'Okay, I came to the net and I got passed again...it's only a point.' Even a great shot, an overhead backhand smash that ends up on ESPN's top 10 playlist – that too is just a point. Here's why I'm telling you this. When you're playing a point, it has to be the most important thing in the world. And it is. But when it's behind you, it's behind you. This mindset is crucial – because it frees you to fully commit to the next point with intensity, clarity, and focus." –@rogerfederer

Earlier today we arrested a woman for suspected tax evasion after repeatedly selling her old clothes. She claimed that she sold them for a fraction of what she had paid. Had paid tax on them when purchased with money she’d already been taxed on. Investigations are ongoing.

This is so powerful. Over and over the chance to make long term sustainable change is rode over roughshod to meet the crisis points and immediate priorities. Every aspect of decision making focussed on the csc need

ADHD as an acronym is in itself misleading. Unmanaged it can be difficult to live with - but need not be. Reduced life chances are avoidable but the historic myths, stigma & deficit lens of the medical model & education system must change @tonylloyd50 theguardian.com/society/2023/s…
