7⃣ TIP 7 It’s OK if they want to hear their favourite story again and again, it's familiar and helps children learn lots if new words. Hearing and using words again and again in different places helps young children learn! 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

5⃣ TIP 5 Hold the book so you can both see it and give them time to turn the pages themselves. They might not want to look at the pages in order and this is okay! They might also want to tell you the story to practise using their words 💬

3⃣ TIP 3 Children love to snuggle and share stories with you! It's a good idea to turn of the TV and put away your phone to enjoy this time. Sharing a book at bedtime can help them sleep better but books can be shared anywhere, on the bus, in the park or even at bath time! 🛁

4⃣ TIP 4 Make sure to let children choose their own favourite book. If they're really little, choose one that makes them smile or laugh! If they look at the pictures or point or touch the book, it means they're enjoying it 👶

4⃣ TIP 4 Babies, toddlers & infants' brains are still developing so they can’t yet manage big feelings by themselves. When you see your child struggling with their feelings, offer support and help them get back to feeling calm again. 👉 orlo.uk/GMTopTips_TmzFs #GM10TopTips

2⃣ TIP 2 Taking care of your own mental health means that you’re in a better place to recognise and respond to your child's needs. Remember that no parent is perfect and you may not feel calm and relaxed 100% of the time. 👉 orlo.uk/GMTopTips_W2ZwL #GM10TopTips
