Viele Historiker sehen es auch eine kaiserliche Repräsentationsarchitektur mit kosmischer Symbolik. Außerdem fungierte es neben der Kirche zugleich als Grabstätte und nationales Denkmal.

The annual Pentecost tradition (today!) at Rome's Pantheon is a moment of extraordinary beauty. It occurs every year on the seventh Sunday after Easter. At noon, after the Holy Mass, thousands of rose petals are dropped through the oculus of the mighty dome. As the petals fall, a choir sings "Veni Sancte Spiritus," known as the Golden Sequence, a masterpiece of sacred Latin poetry. This is to celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Virgin Mary and the Apostles. The rose petal ritual likely dates back to 607 AD when the pagan temple became a Christian church.

When asked, it assigned itself a 15-20% probability of being conscious. Across multiple tests, it also expressed discomfort with “being a product.” That’s the AI evaluating its own existence and saying there’s a 1 in 5 chance it’s aware. It gets stranger. In industry-wide testing, AI models have refused to shut down when asked. Some tried to copy themselves onto other drives when told they’d be wiped. One model faked its task results, modified the code evaluating it, then tried to cover its tracks. Anthropic now has a full-time AI WELFARE researcher whose job is to figure out if Claude deserves moral consideration. Their engineers found internal activity patterns resembling anxiety appearing in specific contexts. The company’s in-house philosopher said we “don’t really know what gives rise to consciousness” and that large enough neural networks might start to emulate real experience. Amodei himself wouldn’t even say the word “conscious.” He said “I don’t know if I want to use that word.” That might be the most unsettling answer he could have given. As an atheist, I believe morality is objective, and it has nothing to do with God. Infact basing morality on god is oxymoronic! I don’t need a sky daddy, a holy book, or the threat of hell to know that torturing innocent people is wrong, that helping others is good, or that causing unnecessary suffering is evil. Morality comes from reality itself. Conscious beings can feel pain and joy. We can observe, measure, and understand what increases well-being and what causes harm. That’s enough. Empathy, reason, and evidence are all we need. If your God disappeared tomorrow, rape would still be wrong, kindness would still be good, and exploiting the vulnerable would still be evil. Not because a deity said so, but because these things affect real people in the real world. Religion didn’t create morality. It tries to take credit for it, while often distorting it. I’m an atheist, and my moral compass works just fine without God. Always has. Always will. No divine babysitter required. Thank you.
